Style - Advice for Finding Your Drawing Style SchaeferArt Edze: Yeah, when I was (a lot) younger I was really hung up on the -find my unique style thing-. It was actually really a hindrance. And looking back I feel it was a silly worry. Just draw/paint, learn to get better at what one does, finding along the way what you like, and you will develop some kind of style.
I am also into values, playing with charcoal, pen and ink, graphite. If you like clean working, I have been experimenting with silverpoint lately, maybe you should try it ( if you don't know it already, you might like it. Can't erase it, doesn't smudge at all, very precise marks. Satisfying imo.

When someday a viewer tells me they could pick my work out from a hundred paintings I'll know I've developed a personal style. But it's not something an artist should spend any time fretting over. Painting is hard enough.
Question: Do you enjoy painting animals? You certainly have a knack for it.

Awesome Polar Bear! Please do more animals as tutorials! Thank you for sharing your creative and amazing talent and video! You have provided me INSPIRATION, that I greatly needed, since I quit painting five months ago! It was exactly what I needed! Thank you! -

Thank you for sharing. I am new to learning to draw/sketch. I love your style how you add texture to the fur and small details. I am hoping to learn how to draw animals mainly. I am nervous about my lack of skills. Again thank you for sharing.

I'm afraid that if I'd pursue some particular art style, even if it would be my own, I'd paint myself into a corner. I'm not sure if I need to have a style for my own sake. I suspect it's just an invention of the art market. -

This was a great video. I-m an artist with many styles and I-m comfortable with all of them because hey are all part of me. So sometimes one style isn-t your style. Sometimes your style is many styles.
