omg this helped me so much, I've been learning about lighting, shadows and values separately for a few months just cause they're the fundamentals and people rec it but didn't know how all those get together and would help me moving forward, this video really helped me visualise and understand all of those stuffs and how all those comes into lay while drawing stuff in general. This was exactly my problem, I have started to make faces recently and I've noticed I've nailed the shape pretty quickly, but it always missed some sort of depth thanks to the lack of lighting. Thank you for helping us!

I followed everything up until how you chose the planes that face the -environment- since I don't get how we define the environment here. Is that what's facing outward and not downward?
