So it seems you're saying the opposite of something I heard the other day about drawing humans. Another concept artist on youtube (I'm sorry I don't remember his name, please don't fire me) said that you don't need to be good at drawing people as a concept artist because humans have already been designed, and your job as a concept artist is to design. You are saying that being great at drawing people helps because virtually everything you need concept art for will involve people. I find this an interesting point.

Thank you! I-ve been working on trying to draw the creatures in my hallucinations as accurate as I can but since I can-t exactly take a picture of what I-m drawing it-s been harder to conceptualise. It-s like drawing something you saw in your dream, you-ve not got a hard reference of what you-re drawing since it-s almost fluid, every time you see it it changes a bit but not enough where you notice.

11: 02 what does he mean by this? If your: starting point: is abstract and you see a girl, puppet, or Swamp thing in your shapes, you can pursue that. From there, like the video brings out, you can use reference to direct the design. I felt the lesson reinforced this method to find designs in/ from starting from notions from Shape.

25: 10 Lasso tool shift simple hack ---
I found out to keep lasso in an -add- function is way more helpful and you don't need to keep doing the shift key thing. Cheers!

Great video, wonderfully succinct advice, and delivered in a refreshingly down-to-earth way. Thanks Scott for taking the time to share your process!

Paraphrase but

Most important take away for me, thank you Scott.

29: 35 onwards - Not really noted in the footage, but that is a neat little trick to create the illusion of forward facing eyes.

This is simply over the top great stuff. I'm going to spend a lot of time at this style of work. Great post. Hope Scott does more.

54: 12 - Can anyone tell me the name of the artist? I tried searching what I thought It sounded like, but I cant find anything.

I don't look at social media b4 drawing just so I'm not unconsciously influenced by what I see, or dumbed down by my own doing
