How to Draw Hairstyles (Step by Step) - Christopher Hart keithdeivo: what type of pencil are you using? I tend to use H pencils because B pencils annoy me, but for purposes of loose sketching and mapping, I've started to use 2B/4B more. H pencils left marks which always showed when I'd begin to add value.
Also, what type of eraser are you using? I have the BEST experiences with the STAEDLER Mars Plastic Eraser. Almost no graphite stands a chance against it. lol.
Best of luck. The fun part of sharpening your skills is learning what each material can do for you.

fun, thanks! i remember many a years ago when i was drawing in the 5th grade and trying to do characters from my imagination. .. so i'd start out w/ the head shape--typically a circle--and then i'd wonder where the hell the hair would go, and i'd always put it on top of the circle! it wasn't until i started drawing ur cartoons that i realized you incorporate the hair INTO the circle, not ON TOP of it!
oh man tho, what a difference this makes x D

Ah - that may be the reason -- pressing too hard, or not hard enough, can get in your way. Instead, why not try a middle ground, and look to use bold, loose lines for the entire initial rough, and precise lines only for the finished version? See if that helps.

You're videos are great! I stumbled upon them and I'm just like wow! They help a lot, and are so easy to follow, but, I still have trouble, I have to draw twin characters and they never come out right: )
