4 Dead-Simple DIY Project to Upgrade Your Raised Beds CAPTAIN: Arrr, me hearty gardening crew, Ahoy Kev, Ahoy Jacques, and the rest of yer fine team! I be an admirer of yer captivating content, ye see. Now, I be havin' a request for ye. Would ye be so kind as to craft a video on the treacherous topic of compartmentalization of decay in trees? Aye, it be a matter of great concern, for I've come to learn that misguided pruning practices can be a sly accomplice to decay in our mighty arboreal companions. 'Tis because ye see, trees don't mend like we landlubbers do, they be sealin' their wounds! The knowledge on this matter be scattered like gold doubloons on the vast internet, and it needs yer skilled hands to gather it all in one tidy trove. I be forever grateful for yer efforts, me kindest of fams. Fair winds and smooth sailin' to ye all!

Can someone explain the benefits of planting in raised beds compared to just planting in the ground? I just don t get how all that money is worth it? It just seems like a constraint, like once you run out of room that s it and it takes so itch money to fill them (yes I know you can put sticks and stuff to help save soil) but could you just till the ground soil and mix in some store bought soil to help aerate and give nutrients?
Most of our property is dry ass heavily cracked red clay and it is so dense with trees and plants but I ve been getting into gardening and I have to do it with spending almost no money and I feel so hopeless because all these gardeners have raised beds so I feel like mines just going to fail.

Wish i had had more warning about the birdie sale, so i could've made sure i had enough money for them. Thats a big chunk of money to spend all at once. I would absolutely love having another row of them, but its too short of notice for me. ugh, i wish i could though man, i love those beds, i have 4 tall ones rn. Another row would've been so nice!

I feel like you're in my brain Kevin! I just placed a super big order on both epic gardening and botanical interests and have beds coming so this is perfect timing! I noticed there was no straw available though. I hope its just out of stock and not being discontinued!

Thank you or not calling your trellis a tipi or a wigwam (for whatever reason our UK gardener friends like calling their trellis' the names of ancestral Indigenous homes. Edit: you later called it a tipi-style trellis. Darn. Cone or conical trellis would be better.

I'm trying to harden off some of my peppers all of them are doing great besides one of them that wilts minutes after being outside even in morning shade almost instantly looks like its dying any help from anyone would be great I have no clue what's wrong with it

I recently did the Buy 3 and Get 1 Free. I've been waiting for a couple of years to buy these beds, but I couldn't pass them up when they went on sale. I even got them delivered within a week of ordering! I can't wait to get these things set up in my yard.

Great video, Kevin. And great sale! One correction though. If your viewers were to buy 12 beds, it seems like they d get 4 more beds free, not 3. Maybe you meant if they bought/paid for 9 beds, they d get 3 more beds free, for a TOTAL of 12?

Maybe do a Cold Frame this winter? You do have a green house, but you could definitely garden more in the winter! A lot of Kales and Cabbages can survive deep frosts, and since you are very south and on the west coast, it could work.

Can attest I built Jacques Makerpipe trellis last year and it worked wonders. Designing a different configuration for this years crop but I will be using the same conduit and Makerpipe connectors.

Jacques, please WEAR YOUR SAFETY GLASSES when using the recip saw. The video didn't show your face when cutting but I did not see any safety glasses near you!
Otherwise a good vid.

I m curious about the worm bin in the raised bed. How would you go about harvesting the worm castings? Or do you just leave it in place for the raised bed to utilize the worm juice.

Hi. I'm from Vancouver Canada. I want to sincerely say I love your shows. You are easy to follow, great tips and advice and enjoyable to watch. Thanks for all you do

How long do the Birdies beds last? I have 12-inch tall cedar raised beds that I built 10 years ago that have reached the end of their lives and need replacing.
reply

I need the maker pipe trellis! I d use it for both a string trellis and shade cloth support! It will look so much better than the janky thing I set up.
