I want to have a section for medicinal herbs, however I think the layout I had was a bust! an old farmhouse 1914 (IF you men want to do a show here, my yard is available for you) Free fishing, camping by the Little Scioto River, and a steak from a Portsmouth Ohio, called SCIOTO RIBBER. I don't have much to offer, except a wonderful experience here in OH

I'm in grad school right now for something different from what I did in undergrad and I really feel you on walking away from academia, Jacques. At the end of undergrad I realized what I got my BA in was really more of an interest than a complete passion, and if I continued mostly the only jobs were in academia and I didn't feel like that was for me. Switched to teaching and I am loving it even though it's hard. Good on you for realizing it was time to step away. It can be very hard to do when you've invested so much.

Love watching and learning from you both. I do mainly container gardening and started trying a couple things 3 yrs ago. I've branched out and this year am trying several new things due to jacque and his enthusiasm. But also a big part is learning what can be made with the vegetables as we were raised on canned corn and cream corn and occasionally canned peas. Not a fan of the latter but now love my sweet peas. I'm in my 50s and am just discovering new things due to gardeners like you. Thanks for all the great content!

I just moved from an apartment into a house and now have quite a large front and back yard. My container garden will be getting an upgrade as I'm able - slow going since I work full time. Currently, I have been spending most of my time clearing out wild blackberry brambles, although I haven't done much recently since we've had a heat wave here in FL. It's also on a septic system, so I need to be sure to work around that. You're videos have been a helpful resource over the past couple years!

Hey! It s the Rainbow basin syncline! I ve been there for a few geology field trips too. Love to hear Jacques story. As former geology graduate students now turned farmers, my partner and I can definitely relate. We just bought a house with a bit of land in Westminster, Colorado, and we have big farm plans. jacquesinthegarden, maybe one day we can share stories about grad school woes and how farming is so much better. The healing process is just beginning! Keep up the great work.

Welp, a PhD isn t for everyone. My dad, a college professor who teaches PhD students even said their not really a use for them unless you want to be a professor and researcher yourself. So, I don t blame you.
As for me, I will still be chugging along with my own degree in Mathematics. I like gardening, but I like sitting in a desk doing math problems all day. But coming home to lovely, healthy plants is the best. I just can t see it as a job doing gardening.

Nice garden Jacques. Funny, I was just thinking the other day about what shrubs I could plant inside the chicken run and viola, you have done just that! Mine won't be figs though as I am in zone 3b. Might just be something like Salix to help provide some shade during the summer. Good video.

I'm a lawyer. I quit (well, severely cut back) being a lawyer to go into game development. I put that on hold to do develop a property the family recently acquired into a farm. Money's being drained right now but the mental stress from lawyering just wasn't worth it.

It s so great to hear this story! And inspiring. I was lucky enough to take an organic gardening course with Urban Harvest in Houston. My yield doubled. I m out of practice now ( business owner digging out if the pandemic, but can t wait to get back to it
