I grew the Murasaki variety of sweet potato last year and it was literally one of the best things I've ever tasted in my life - the plants were gorgeous while they grew and lifelong vegetable-haters have declared they loved both the roots and the leaves. I can't wait to grow more this year and I hope you have just as much success with your Okinawan sweet potatoes as I had with the Murasaki!
I'd love to hear from Chris and other gardeners in colder climates - I'm in zone 5b and while that isn't the coldest in the country, it's been plenty cold for me and definitely affects my gardening. It would be fantastic to hear their advice!

I live in Minnesota (zone 4b. Our weather is really unpredictable. Living in a colder zone we have a short growing season and because of this most gardeners try to start getting plants in the ground in mid-May. This past spring we had a really wet and cold spring and half of what I planted in May got root-rot and died. I planted more crops in June, but now the weather is hot and dry and I am trying to keep things watered. What are some varieties of vegetables (or other plants) that are both water and drought tolerant and both heat and cold tolerant. Most plants are either one or the other. Thx

Last year I grew slips from an organic purple sweet potato. Took a long time to get the slips and then they came in droves. Planted out a little late due to slow starts, but I got a big crop in large grow bags. The ones grown in a raised bed had amazing vines but were all swiped by voles and other undesirables. I'm going to continue with purple slips and also garnet slips if I can start them. Water in a glass doesn't work for me. Planting shallow in potting soil finally did the trick the last two years.

Great video- I love the diversity of seeds recommended! You asked for suggestions on what wed like to hear from Chris and Id like to hear more about how engineered/hybrid seeds (say the tomato you recommended or the two tomatos Jacques recommended ) differ from GMO seeds. Also wondering how they may affect pollinators. Thanks so much- always love your videos!

I really enjoyed this video and am definitely going to buy some of the seeds recommended by Jacques, but I would love if you add a deep south gardener. I live in South Florida Zone 10B, but it is NOTHING like your 10B. Our humidity causes so many problems in the garden. Would love to get advice from someone who lives here and still manages to succeed.

nice: ) many cool ideas, specially that cold hardy chili! well our Finnish winters would be too cold for even that anyway, but at least it would survive much longer outside than the average ones. or possibly it might make it if kept inside a greenhouse +an additional low tunnel +very well mulched +lots of horticultural fleece as well. :D

Kevin, Im doing my first raised bed garden and besides topsoil which Im getting from a county Highway site and according to a family member should be good soil. I have 4 8x2. 5 beds, what amendments are absolutely necessary in your opinion? This will be the first growing season so I have no idea how it will do.

Thanks for sharing. This helps me decide what to grow since I have limited space and am a newer gardener. I also think taste it so vital and I don't want to waste my time and space growing something I don't enjoy. I hope you make a video of your harvest, especially Jacques $15 seeds.

I got to go anywhere (within a 100 mile radius) of our home in Corona today for my Birthday and I choose a nursery in Menifee that sells San Diego Seed company seeds. I am soooo excited about my treasures, thank you for your videos, I love them all and learn so much from you.

Very cool. Recommendation for carp that doesn't grow easily. I had to stop at about 4 minutes when the unnecessarily freaky sweet potatoes came on. I would much rather see something new that grows easily/produces well. I have a job, I'm not looking for a challenge.

Hi Kevin and Chris please try Adaptive Seeds in Oregon. They are a pure organic farm that sell seed. They are fantastic. Also please ask your followers to check them out please. They support so many fellow growers around the world.
