So your seeds have germinated, and they're even starting to grow. You've avoided damping off disease, your seedlings aren't too leggy. they're just. big. This is a GOOD problem to have! But, it's time to pot them up into larger pots if you're not transplanting them outside yet. If you don't, you'll risk them becoming root-bound in their small pots and struggling for water and nutrients. Remember, most seed starting mix is inert (no inherent nutrition

When should you pot them up? When do you introduce full sunlight to seedlings with true leaves? Should I harden them off once I plant them up even if its a few more weeks until planting in the garden? Or should I keep them inside? I dont have a lot of room so Im concerned with potting them up because I have quite a few plants growing

You're ahead of me in the process, I'm jealous! I love in a Zone 4b (Minnesota, and our average last frost date isn't until mid to late May, so I'm planting my seeds up next weekend. I've had it marked in my calendar for months, I'm just itching to get in the dirt!

Im in zone 5, Capital District NY. Its April (duh. We usually put seeds in the ground the first or second week on May. Its still chilly 40-50 degrees. Is that temp sufficient enough for me to start seeds on my uninsulated porch now?

I realize some people don't have the indoor space but I hate up potting so I start with a larger container. Usually a 16 or 18 ounce solo cup.
Up potting is a pain in neck but if you don't have space you need to do it.

Hi! First timer here, can I go directly to a 12x12 pot when they are too large for the starter? Or do I need a transition pot that is smaller? Not much indoor space but I don't want to put them outside too early. Thanks!

Just getting started with gardening: . Anyone remember Kevin's vermiculate to pearlite. He said one allows for best drainage, the other for retaining more moisture. I can't remember the ratios! Any input appreciated

Quick question: why do you have to start in small pots and then progressively get larger and what happens if I pot the seed immediately in an average plant pot?

product is a waste of money at $50 a bag. You can get mychorizal fungi for free so many places. We dont need to use manufactured products to grow

Hi, great video! Did you grow your seedlings under a grow light? Also can you please give me the website you got the bacterial fertiliser from?

Nice job! I am wondering if there is a reason why you couldn't just plant the seedling in the garden instead of doing the small pot phase?

Suggestion: don't be a lazy prick by just doing one terrible recording. The audio in this video is indicative of your lethargic horticulture.

When you take your seedlings out for a few hours do you decrease the amount of unnatural light they are under in equal or unequal amounts?

Thanks for this video. I killed 4 of my basil seedlings by trying to transplant them from a pot and ended up ripping them in half >.
