Wow this was an amazing video. I am a beginner, Used to be I cared more about going out to the Pubs for karaoke. Then where was this whole pandemic thing and I couldnt do my job anymore and as my friend got me started with a tiny garden in my backyard. Things have exploded. As a wheelchair user I was finding it extremely difficult to pull the hose and get all my plants properly watered. I mean Ive got bamboo in pots, And this is my first year with cucumbers that have survived the snail Assault. First we thought them with Sluggo, then we put down beer traps. But today I discovered that some thing is starting to devour my artichoke plants. I have just two artichoke plants but they take up a lot of space and Im waiting for them to grow as tall as the fence.
So I Im having trouble at the main faucet of the house so I ran this feeder line to the side of the house where I put a four-way splitter, line one takes the hose back to the front of the house line 2 goes to the top of the wheelchair ramp to a hose that I can spray the ramp down, line 3 I just disconnected line for goes 100 foot hose all the way back around to the backyard backyard. So I put this four-way splitter on the ramp at the top, and now I have a drip line running to the left and right of the wheelchair around into the backyard and line 3 goes out to the front and I split that line and run it to my other plants. Its not going as quickly as I would hope, Because the little fittings can be a bugger to insert into the tubing. Im trying to figure out how to balance things because I put a couple sprinkler units in places that are working great, and then I am finding that the Dropper that Im using its probably way too much water four these plants. I was thinking about using a Mister, But then that would be watering from overhead, right?

Any tips for using a sprinkler? At the end of your video I saw one on the table like I use. I live in a very hot humid environment in Mississippi. My garden is a small 20, three row garden. Our rain season is typically now, but this year the pattern is different. If I have not had rain in several days, late evening, I sprinkle when the garden hits its shade phase, about an hour before sunset. Am I harming it by sprinkling? It seems so by all things mentioned-as it is basically top watering, and, with different plants too. So, same watering patterns for all. This is my first garden that is not raised or contained.

The biggest mistake I ever made What is the 1st time I ever did container gardening. We did not put on that holes in the containers. We had to go to Birmingham on emergency call. We had a big rain storm while we were gone Within a week I realized that all the roots and seeds it rot in died. It was a real bummer. that I learned a lot. I really appreciate your show and the company who gave you things to do it was. Thank you

Having clay soil is so difficult to know whether they been fully watered. Noticed after planting a couple of pin cushions although they dont like much moisture I noticed nothing, absolutely no moisture had pass through an inch of their soil. How to fix it?
Some areas when digging my clay soil will be soft but other areas on same spot will be dry like cement. Help!

You are so right! I am in Fl & watered my small Rise of Sharon plants overhead & not at the bottom only.
They got powdery mildew. Lesson learned! Never again.
I now have to spray them, wait 10 days, spray again. They are improving but not 100% back to normal. I water bottom only from now on.

I heard that the mid-day sun might damage your plants if you water them during that time, because water droplets might act as magnifiying lenses and focus light upon single points.
Just throwing it out there hoping someone might have something to say about this: )

Oh my gosh. I thought since it rains at different times of the day and comes down on top of the plants. then that is how I water everything. Anytime of day and all over the plants. I am surprised I have ever gotten any produce. Thank you for clear explanation and it made sense.

Honestly when you are a busy person and to me anytime I have I use it to water bc I have over 1 acre to try to take care of along with my unusual smaller species of trees and shrubs, I try to overwater to help save time, hasn't hurt any of my stuff and then I can skip a day

I understand what you say and appreciate it. But here in Utah, we are a dessert and in severe drought. We can only water 2 times a week. I have heavily mulched them to retain moisure which makes it a little harder to do the finger test. You have a great garden. Thanks.

Great video. Hiwever I added mulch and now we have artillery fungus everywhere and its getting all over our house. Now were bagging up all our old mulch and taking it to the burn pile. I will never use mulch again. Im not even sure we can get rid of this fungus.

Biggest mistake, not having everything I needed and then realizing I should have added more perlite for better drainage and then it's much harder almost impossible to go back unless you entirely dig up the entire thing. I seem to always need better drainage

It is best not to water over or on top of plants, but some plants, like azaleas, actually absorb water through their leaves, so I always water over these when theyre really dry, but not when the hot sun is beating down on them. The dirt is in my blood.

I'm wondering why my blooming vincas often get curled up leaves at different times of the day, and why would this sometimes kill the plants? Too much water? Too little water? Too much heat? PLease give me some suggestions to try to save my plants.
