I'm loving your book! I'm a first time gardener on a small apartment porch in sunny northern SoCal. I'm jealous of the beautiful weather y'all have in San Diego but hopefully I can get some basics growing or at least learn from this year to make next season better. Just one question though. I have 1 raises bed that I bought from Target and it came with seeds in it. I planted those seeds and they grew nicely. However, I feel the planter wasn't great for the green beans and they looked like they needed some extra help. I'm not sure how to replant those in another container without shocking them. Any suggestions on replanting?

I am just getting into gardening, and have been binging your vids.
I am about to plant my first herbs in a few railing planters. Specifically Dill, basil, parsley, mint, chive, garlic, thyme, oregano, and rosemary.
Do I need to use different soils for specific ones? Or will any fertilizer from the store work? Also do certain ones need to be together in the same pot? Or can I just mix and match what seeds go in what pot?

What needs to be considered is that plastic will degrade over time and enrich the the soil with microplastic which will end up in whatever you plant there or eventually in the environment. Microplastic is already a huge problem so please consider to get other materials, they might not be as handy or degrade as well over time, but replacing a wooden container once in a while is way better for the environment.

Hello Kevin. What is the brand of the reinforced 5 gallon grow bag, and where did you get it from? Do you have a video to help with growing calamansi limes in Zone 5A? If you're unfamiliar with said limes, please ask your lola about them. Thanks. We're transplants from San Diego, and we were crushed to learn that we couldn't have a lime tree in the backyard when we first moved here in Indiana.

I wanted to make better use of my balcony for plants and veggies as well this year. I got large nursery pots (i didnt know about grow bags yet then. i didnt want to get heavy terracottas since i wasnt sure if this hobby would stick and they are harder to store away in my small condo. Is it ok to use nursery pots outside on the balcony or are they really ment for indoor usage?

Thank you, this is so helpful. I'm just about to start a balcony garden in London. I have no experience beyond houseplants, my balcony is surrounded by high rise buildings so light is limited and summer is ending so it will probably be a disaster but I'll learn and am really looking forward to it

What would you do to rid green soil? I planted lettuce and herbs with pro mix moisture control soil and its turning green on the surface. It kinda bothers me because I dont know if thats bad for the plants or not, if you could give me some insight to this situation, I would be most grateful.

Im a bit late to the party but I have one of those vertical planters he has and Im concerned that some of my herbs will take over as it seems really shallow. Im scared the roots will grow sideways. Should catnip, thyme, and dill be ok or should I switch them to individual containers?

This is so helpful, thank you! I would love any advice for growing indoors in an apartment. I unfortunately dont have access to a patio or any outdoor space. But these ideas are definitely something helpful to experiment with even indoors! Id never heard of grow bags before.

Thank you for the video. It's very helpful. I want to ask a silly questions about grow bag because I really want to try them. Will the water come out of the grow bag stain the floor? I'm worried because if the water damage or stain the floor, it will be a big problem to me.

I live in the country on 2 acres of land and I still have to garden on my deck. I have a major deer infestation (lol) and they eat everything I plant. So this is a great video for anyone who needs to keep their plants off of the ground, not just apartments.

I love this! Ive been considering using a grow bag, but Im worried about whether itd be a good choice for me. I live in Phoenix and its quite hot. Do you think the bags would allow too much water to escape too quickly for something like tomatoes or zucchini?

Not sure if I missed it in the video. Any tips on making the transition from a plastic planter to a grow bag? Im almost positive all the plants I got from my mom are root bound, and I want to make sure I dont accidentally kill them the transplant lol.
