How to pinch seedlings in order to increase yields. When a seedling is 8-18 inches tall, cut the top 3-4 inches off the plant. This tells the plant to produce more side shoots for you, resulting in more stems for your cut flower garden!

SOOOO painful to watch you pinch off that beautiful plant, but I recognize and understand why. lol. I am the gardener that would try to root that -pinch off- and start another plant!

Hi Danielle, is it ever too late to pinch? I have cosmos that are already over 2' and I did not pinch yet.
