Love your show. As a published author, survival is a part of my story line in some novels. I also lived it as a kid, so I know something about the forests, hunting and so on. I like the close to nature off the grid life style your living - so at first when you asked about getting a 4 x 4 and or snowmobile, I thought you would be diminishing the self reliant aspects of your life and what that promotes. However, even the first nations peoples of Alaska are using them to expand their range and you can't get more minimalistic and off grid then they live. Yes, I say go for it. Get what you need to do the job while leaving the smallest carbon foot print you can - I'm a big 4 x 4 fan, use to have a big Polaris, but not any longer. The 4 x 4 is a good 4-seasons work machine. Just be up front about it - involving the reader in the buying of it and why it works for you now and we will all enjoy the trip. Thanks again, your show proves that we are never to old to learn how to do it a different way. Blessings from the lower 48. Phil and Candi

I have been to Ontario on two seperate occasions as I have a friend there whom is a phycolagist and I do agree with what u have to say and enjoy watching your building and conversations. Please keep up the vidios. Love the country and the people I had some one tell me once and I have found it so true Canadians would appolagise for being right. I do believe any dicissions we make in this life, at the time was the right one it is just that sdome times circumstances change that and more decissions need to be made, hopefully to turn the first decission into a posative. My wife often tells me off as I do not worry about anything & have never been one to live some one elses life I am too busy living my own Sorry for ranting and jumping all over the place

I am not following the extra step is seems in creating the tree mounted measuring board for your log scribe compass. From what I can tell. you are measuring the gap on the logs and that is the amount you want to drop them with the notch. So that distance is the same as you are using on the board and so why not just stick the compass in between the logs where you are measuring and set it that way? Or am I missing something. Not trying to criticize here. I have never built a log cabin and am just making an observation. I love watching your videos and your efforts and respect the amount of work greatly.

Hey Sean, Ive been watching your videos for a while. I get great motivation from you! We have a big property with mountain ridge in Idaho, and I have built and created a wall tent with floor and deck, firewood storage, big fire pit, and meat pole. We snowmobile, ATV, and hike up to it. It is a sanctuary for me. I cook lots of meals, read, cut wood, and have harvested game nearby. You inspired me. Dont let any of these jealous types get you down. That simply means they suffer from envy. Youre doing it right. Youre doing it your way and following your passion. Nothing is as pure as that. Thank you.

Why does YouTube prevents us from hitting the THUMBS Up button twice? People do have two thumbs. Seriously though, great content Shawn, appreciate the effort you put into every video. Scenery is breathtaking, though I live in Europe, I would like to one day visit Canada. Don't pay attention to negativity stemming from all the people who clicked on thumbs down button. They are probably jealous and have nothing better to do, then hate on something they will never be able to create on their own. Thanks from Czech Republic! - Drew

I once had a boss tell me that if I'm paying attention to what others are doing, I'm not doing my job. Those who criticize everything should take that statement to heart. How you build your place is by the method and skill that you wish to use. Let the critics produce evidence that their way is better. I'll bet a dollar that their way is not better at all, other wise there would be evidence. Offering a better method is not critical, that is trying to help.

Hi, I have a long backlog of your videos to watch so this is probably bit late, but have you tried moss as insulation? Here in Finland I think all the really old log cabins / saunas pretty much always used moss (sphagnum) to plug/pack/caulk the log gaps and also as insulation (I think especially under the floorboards) as the other traditional material (linen) had much more uses and was significantly less abundant and had to be farmed.

I do a thumbs down on videos I'm not interested in so that my feed on you tube isn't flooded with many more like them. I hit the like button for those I do want more like them. Not because it isn't a good video just not my taste. thumbs down doesn't mean really anything.
