How to build a staircase with natural materials using a chainsaw. As I continue to finish the interior of the log cabin, I finally get around to building a wooden ladder to the sleeping loft. Cali, our Golden Retriever, tries out the bottom step, a slab of ash cut from a dead standing tree on the Canadian wilderness property. I cut and shape dowels of maple, birch and ash from the surrounding forest and use an Alaskan chainsaw mill to cut the stringers for the staircase as well as cordwood, log ends for steps. To keep warm in the unseasonably cold winter weather we are getting here on the American Thanksgiving, I roast a whole chicken with squash and potatoes on the wood stove. The fire is burning steady to fend off the bitter cold, down to -33 celsius, -27 Fahrenheit at night with the windchill and not much warmer during the day. A full moon lights up the cabin, but it's so cold that I only take a few pictures of the night sky before my camera battery dies from the cold. Follow the drone as it flies through the bitter cold, snowy Canadian wilderness, hovering over waterfalls and rivers

What a wonderful view to wake up to. The stairs have made a nice difference but i bet Cali will take her time before having a go at them, when she does your in for trouble, like a wet nose in the ear in the morning.
I do like the design, it makes a change from just straight runners and is in keeping with the rest of the place, i just hope they dont shrink over time.
The sif on vice is really handy and well worth making, the only snag is that these days getti g things like draw knives and such is not easy, i am at present making myself one but the steel is a bit on the thick side so will take some grinding out, i also liked the shingle splitter, again something you dont see in the hardware stores, make me wish I had a small anvil, but we cant have everything, most of my tools are over two hundred years old thiugh you would not know it to look at them, the one thing i am really grateful for is a real indian stone for sharpening, gives a really razor sharp edge and is still as square as day one, i have never seen one in a shop ever.
I notice that your batteries seen to last a long time, but then you are careful about use.
Keep the videos coming they are great to watch really!

Cannot argue about Cali, she really is a good looking retriever, who it seems has a great deal of self control.
I have watched most of your videos annd as yet have never heard her bark.
She seems dedicated to that small fender on a rope, i have not seen her play with anything else although there are plenty of other things she could play with.
Mine likes to join in regardless of what happening and thinks it funny when he nicks off with one of my tools, even the broom.
I have mentioned before that they are a breed apart as i have never seen another dog with so much dedication, a trait they all have.
My dog could do with a set of boots as he will play near pine trees and stand in the sap which as you know is like glue and all i can do it cut it out of his fur and wash his feet in washingnup liquid to try and get rid of whats left.
How do you get on vet wise as its got to be a fair trip if you need to take her there, but so far it looks like she really is a very healthy dog and a very good companion, i wonder how old she is?

The self-proclaimed Cutest Dog on You Tube is virtually ignored on a regular basis by this owner. He rarely talks to the viewers, doesn't stop to pet his pooch from time to time, doesn't smile in the least. Appears to be a very lonely man living by his own self in the snow and cold in the winter, and the heat and the bugs in the summer.

Where is everyone from? It's 6: 00 AM here so I assume most of you watching this in the first couple of hours are not from the east coast of North America like I am. And thanks for watching and giving this video a thumbs up!
Speaking of America, Happy Thanksgiving my American friends. Have a great weekend everyone!

Love seeing the snow and the changing seasons. I live in Texas close to the Gulf and we don't get snow, so this is a treat. Plus love watching Cali keep an eye on things.
