But u never mention. What bout Medical costs or doctor dentist costs for regular visit or emergency? How far where u go for a doctor medical help esp in emergency? How far away is real decent hospital Emergency ambulance? to help you?
You hurt cut nicked yur finger w axe once right? kinda badly? what did u do? How's yur teeth or keep up. even brush teeth 2x day? .keep dentist away.
Yur still r youngish early 50's in great strong shape. but what if cut, burn, rusty fishook, gun accident. or bear animal attack bite? Do u keep pay annual health, dental insurance still?

Thank you so very much for sharing the details. Your words are like diamonds and gold bits for many a person desiring the lifestyle. When I was a kid on my grandparents farm/ranch, the out house was past the root cellar round the back of the house, past the chicken coop, and up the hill past the sheep pens, by where the goats were! Whew! It was a huge out house with three size seats, filled with catalogs. Hardly close to the house nor cute like the one at your place! Out houses belong far from house.

How do keep bear mainly or animals away from your cabin? Can't bear smell food scents like 20 miles away? Can't big bear go right thru yur frt cabin window like in 2seconds get at yur food or hope not You? Whats yur Plan or escape backups to defend protect against bears especially?

You can get new wood stoves online for less than 200 take in mind they are smaller and not as nice but do the job on thee smaller newer ones you run the pipes out the window with a steel plate after cutting a circle out of the center for the plate. I love your cabin I'm building one in the next few weeks I got my land and now I'm ready to go off grid thanks for your inspiration you rock.

Thank you Shawn for this really nice video explaining everything so well. l grew up in the country, until l was 11 yrs old and l have always missed living in the country. The more l watch your videos the more l want to move out of the city and build a little cabin myself.

I appreciate knowing my woodstove ash has a new purpose! Sawdust is currently the only material I use. Often I have to haul it in from the local sawmill when I don't produce enough of my own. Thank you for sharing this useful info. You saved me a few trips out!
