With my dog, Cali the Golden Retriever, I start my forest garden, hacking a vegetable plot into the banks along a beaver creek while collecting sod and moss for the roof of a log cabin in the Canadian wilderness. In the second half of the video, we continue paddling up a river in Ontario, Canada, fishing and experiencing close encounters with moose cows and new born calves

Have you ever come across the no dig method made popular by leading expert Charles Dowding? Hes been doing it since 1983 and has attained much success in part to a much friendlier gardening environment in England. However, it is a method that makes sense in any garden and certainly would save you hours of back breaking digging.

What your doing is so fascinating to me. I've watched all your videos and look forward to the future ones. I really wished I would have done this when I was younger with my boys when I lived in the Pacific northwest. I'm in Florida now. Anyways, just wanted to say thanks.

Hi from Australia again Shaun, may I suggest you do some research on an item called a 'RAM pump. it would suit your needs and your philosophies. no power input and uses water hammer energy to provide lift. I use it here and find it nearly perfect. Love the site

This is great! I'm hoping to buy property near Chalk River and this is getting me pumped! Will be quite the change from renting a garage in Vancouver. What breeder did you get your golden from?

For a garden in those conditions, i would use raised beds. That takes your growing area higher above the wet soil, provides better drainage, and makes for a warmer soil which helps plants grow.
