Cali watches as I cut and install two and half inch pine timbers for the frame of the door and laminate cedar boards together to make the front door of the off grid log sauna. It's a short episode this week because I'm gone fishing I hope you all have a great weekend and I will see you up at the cabin next week!

Hi Shawn, I must apologise to you for calling you James. Thats your surname right? Im the lady in the wheelchair whos hooked on your show and the friends who came to help you build the long cabin of the First Nation. Incredible work you do kind sir. I love your dog Cali too, shes beautiful and obedient to you. I asked you about my wooden chopping board that I bought to preserve it. It is Acacia. You said beeswax. I had to look it up how long I leave it on for. 24 hours it said. But heres the thing, I had a tiny bit in my container that I had to warm up to spread it. I left it under the table only for another person who came, washed it and cleaned it then used it for chopping and left deep gashes in my huge chopping board. Mmmm. Now what do I do Shawn? Please advise. Im a single woman with little knowledge about woods. . Please may I reiterate how much I thoroughly enjoy and appreciate your life and times living the way you do. From Alexi, Australia.

I moved to my land in 1984, and one of the things I liked most was that we have a breading pair of grey owls in our pines close to the house. I don't know how long they live but they were calling down to me this morning, Who Cooks For You while I cleared a patch of land to extend my lawn this morning. The other owl also called back from a ways away also. I love that.

Were you measuring the tree or hugging it? I hope hugging and that maybe you can transplant other trees there. With your love of nature i am going to assume when you harvest an animal you thank him/her for sacrificing himself/ herself for your food etc. So glad to hear you use all the parts. Love your valuing nature like you do!

Interesting but he doesn't seem to answer anyone's questions. End of tape will eventually snap off if you keep letting it slide back and snap to a stop. He's still doing more than the average guy sitting on the couch eating bonbons. ( me today)

hopefully some genealogist can modify the Ashe genome to be immune to that blight. But even so it will take a long time to get it reestablished. America is currently loosing the pine to an invasive species of beetle. It is sad.

My home town had huge elm trees all around where I grew up. Before we got curb and gutters our front yard had five. There were grey squirrels with white tails too. The elm trees and all of those squirrels are gone now.

Hello and greetings from the US. I was wondering if you treat the canvas tarps you use with your own treatment or something you purchase?

I would think that Ash wood would be expensive and hard to find seeing as it's going extinct. You sure you'd want to give it away?
