Wilderness, self reliant living includes harvesting and cooking food from the surrounding land, including wild edibles like berries, mushrooms and vegetables grown on the off grid log cabin homestead. My wife joins me for grass finished beef hamburgers with wild mushrooms, homemade cheese and ratatouille we make with vegetables I grew in the forest garden

I cringe every time you toss veggie scraps to the woodland. That's my most precious composting material. Love the horn-handle knife. 'Didn't get to see you make that! Maybe this winter you will write MY WHAT'S AVAILABLE AT THE MOMENT COOKBOOK by Shawn James. Lady James be spoiled tonight.

always, curious how you could tell which wild mushrooms are poisonous or edible; a family here in Los Angeles, cooked up some wild mushrooms that grew in their back yard not knowing and the whole family died; true story

I'd love to see a tour of the cabin. You've done so much in a short period of time.
Ps: I'm going to build a grill like your kitchen. Using the rebar around the rocket stove was genius.

Shawn, your video production is almost surreal. It's short moments that you put the scene and the stance together that make the whole video worth watching over and over again. Thank you

Watch all your videos. Especially what you are cooking always interests me. Was a chef for many years and now retired in Malta. Hope I see many more videos of you. kind regards.

I will never again look at a cast iron skillet as some heavy dish I'd rather not use, I have a new perspective and complete respect for them now
