I prepare scaled Northern Pike along with seasonal wild edibles including pin cherry syrup and maple syrup to top sunflower seed and cornmeal cake, with a side of stinging nettle, wild leeks and burdock root. The northern pike was garnished with a spread of nut butter (ground sunflower seeds) and wild mint as well as garlic mustard. All this cooked over open fire. I also challenged myself to a bow drill friction fire. Wild Edibles In This Meal Include: - Pin Cherries - Maple Syrup - Stinging Nettle - Leeks (Leave and Bulbs) - Burdock Root - Northern Pike - Wild Mint - Garlic Mustard Other

Lemon balm is AWESOME. it grows literally like a weed. I love having a Bush or four growing on the property. along with sweet basil, peppermint, mint and cilantro. all weeds lol. I just splash 'em with water once in a while and have 'em planted out of the direct brutal southern sun and they go wild. There's nothing better than coming in from the wet cold in the winter to a lemon balm, mint and peppermint tea mix that you grew yourself organically without hassle, knowing that if you didn't harvest it at the end of season it would be rotting away, going to waste outside and instead is in your mug tasting fantastic and bringing you warmth, nutrition and happiness. Even people who kill plants can grow lemon balm. you all should try it.

maple syrup. that's from god. only kind i buy and i always think of canada when i have it even though i've nev been there. the natural wild greens knowledge. i like that & i lack that quite a bit. eating that fish skin. yep is important in survival i think too. plus the fish skin is good i think. the fish there is a big blessing. the food looked pretty good to me - thx. thumbed-up!

great vid Mr Beardsman as always. i guess im one of the few people who often scale their pike. especially if im in the bush for a week or more at a time and im eating allot of protein ill scale my pike to get the added fat from the skin. its better fresh though.

I've eaten burdock my whole life. the japanese call it gobo. it's very good if you thinly shave it. with a vegetable peeler, soak in water for a little while. then dry and sautee with sesame oil and soy.

so as growing up in colorado as a kid in the high country, we watched out for nettles as STAYAWAY, came home more than once as a huge welt. it freaks me out that your eating them, how does that work.

Have you tried boiling cubed (and de-boned) pike fillets in salt water before? tablespoon or two of salt, boil meat until it floats, smother in butter and enjoy, it's surprising how good it is.

. the stinging nettle is a highly nutritional plant. would like a closer look at the garlic mustard plant, and a little more biography on their nutrients.

I stay in Louisiana. Don't laugh but I thought your Pike was a garfish when I first saw it lol. It'll be good if u come here to do a survival tape.
