HER FIRST Overnight at the Off Grid Cabin! - Fire Plate, Burgers and Movie Night

Most of the off grid cabin in the woods is complete, so we pack the family up and spend a night enjoying the woods in between our busy city life filled with day-jobs and hockey. We cook up some hamburgers on the BBQ and dive into some snacks. Our usual Friday night is movie night, and since the cabin is outfitted with inergy from our Apex unit, we fire up the laptop and take a break. Before the family arrives, we install the metal plate under the wood stove which will protect the flooring from melting or becoming a fire hazard. We are going to be heating the cabin with a small wood stove. We will also be able to cook on the wood stove. I'll show you our sleeping arrangements consisting of cots by Teton and a sleep pad which my son, Holden will use. I also like to use two sleeping bags as the weather is starting to cool off Five: Love your cabin, I-m building a partial cover for my sawmill to protect the saw head. any reason I couldn-t use cedar similar to your siding but using on roof. In the same manner.
Thanks in advance Rob

Guys, yew put the stove next to the front door? If it was at the other end, it could easily warm the entire structure. Wood and all! What? My Dad put his stove on the opposite end of the building so it could heat the entire structure, which worked. The living room for the family at tv time was cozy, the bed rooms were a bit cooler. Perfect for sleeping. Does this draw a picture? 45 ft long house. You scare me.

This shack is good, just built backwards, your front door is the single largest loss of heat in the shack. Your stove is next to the most open area of the building. The front door. It is a Heat dump. Why did you do that? Wood dirt? Brooms are cheap! Easy to use to.

I like that you dropped the loft floor a foot to get you more head space. My stove requires 18- from the drywall. I mounted a steel roof panel On the wall behind the stove with a 1- gap to wall. Works great and moved stove to within 16- no problem.

Have you thought about a hand strung cargo net to strech the open space of the loft? Kid absolutely love it, can be used for sleeping and lounging or even odds n ends storage, as well as negating the need for a pony rail. Just a though.

Loved feeling series excellent cabi just needs safety rail on upper flow with a little girl in the family and I would have carried top floor on straight across but hey that's just my opinion but fantastic build.

would be nice to have more windows they are bit small on the downstairs it enjoy the view and also you could make a little balcony area off the loft so you could sit outside and look at the view from up there

Sons are great for Dads because they learn their life skills from dad. Just make sure no matter what you're always there for him. Daughters are as much fun once they get the tom boy gene going

Listen man. I just watched the 4 hour video of the framing of this cabin and was shocked to hear about all the negative people. But I cannot condone so much mustard on a burger, my guy.
