I went fishing for giant white sturgeon, the largest freshwater fish in North America. These ancient river monsters grow up to 20 feet in length and can weigh well over 1, 000 pounds. Sturgeon are one of the oldest fish on the planet, living for longer than 100 years in the Fraser River. This iconic river stretches 850 miles from the Rocky Mountains to the Pacific Ocean, flowing through Chilliwack, British Columbia. Home to Yves Bisson (Be sawn, who has spent the last 30 years exploring these waters. He's caught more than 28, 000 sturgeonsome weighing over 700 pounds. For the next two days, we will be searching for the largest fish that swims in the Fraser River. Have fished sturgeon as a kid a few times in the Columbia. Never knew some go up to the Frasier from the Columbia, that's crazy. The fights are great n seen one probably 14 foot as big at the boat at the dock. They had it tied n were hoisting it out with a tractor. Was about 26 years ago in the Columbia. Never forget that sight. Than went home n cooked the one we had n they are great, not fishy n thick meat like tuna but white meat. Glad you had fun, seen many vids of ppl going out with sturgeon Co n always a great vid.

I've been out with Yves 12 times over 4 years. He is amazing. We have averaged over 5 fish a day, mostly over 7 feet(as crazy as it sounds a 6 foot fish is on the small side) with quite a few in the 10 foot range. Not only is he an absolutely incredible guide, he is an also a great teacher and an overall great Dude. See you next year Ives!

Even on a river like that, I don't think people realize how hard sturgeon actually are the catch. The only exception is in the spring when they come in the rivers to spawn its easier to find mass numbers, but on average, you grind for sturgeon bites. This guide is a Chad

The specific story of sturgeon surviving burial in mud from the 1948 flood appears to be an urban legend or an unconfirmed anecdote, rather than a documented historical or scientific event.

dude theres no fckin way hes caught 28000 sturgeon even if he caught one everyday that would be 76 fckin years bro assuming he starts catching them straight out of the womb

An adventure of a life time, the air, the sky, brite blue The stars alone or with a brite blue moon. Sit and to the wind or dream of a sturgeon's tail fin!

Gotta love a fishery where you can spend all day with the boys catching 8 foot long 200 pound fish, and still go home mad that you didn't get the big one

A big sturgeon, heading upsteam to find the spot where I almost got caught. I spawned with my girlfriend somewhere up here. It's exactly one year!

Hearing him say that he’s caught tagged fish from the Columbia is crazy. Homie traveled up the Washington coast, through the San Juan’s and into Canada

The fact that the guide gets this jacked over something he’s done 28, 000 times, is the exact person we need in this world. Amazing
