I've been wondering why I see hundreds of saltwater videos when they catch a catfish and cuss, laugh, and throw them back. I thought something about saltwater cats was horribly different than their river cousins. Since I know you would never say they were good if they weren't, I'll let those other youtubers know! Whether you know or not the fresh water species can spike the Hell out of you too, and it burns for hours, but that makes filleting and frying them a lot more vengeful! Got'em!

Why do you announce the Gafftopsail Catfish as being venomous as if it is on par with a Mojave Rattlesnake; or as if your displaying your immunity to some poisonous flesh it has (which it doesn't? A Gafftopsail Catfish is no more venomous than a Hornet or Fire Ant; they bite or sting, local pain and swelling. and unless one is particularly allergic, none of them are lethal.

The next time you decide to keep a catfish, go ahead and cut the spines off with the bolt or wire cutters on the boat. It makes them much easier to handle and clean. and you don't have to worry about getting spiked!

If you chop off the tail ( not unlike bleeding a tuna) right after you catch them and hang them tail down for a few minuets and let them flop there will be no blood line when filleting them

I have tried chunks of these catfish as shark bait. Only bait I have tried that shark's will not bite. Surprised you could eat it. Power of a good breading and frying trash fish.

Gaftop is great tasting fish hands down compared to hardhead. No one should throw back a gaftop. I will keep a gaftop any time we catch one big enough to get decent filets off it
