We fished out of Lake Worth Inlet, Palm Beach, Florida in an area known as Sailfish Alley where the gulf stream is funneled between the Bahamas and Florida's east coast bring the stream closer to land than in any other spot in the US; it's an offshore angler's paradise. We fished in100-150' of water which is only a mile or two from shore. I caught two sailfish, then we caught a bunch of muttons. Kim fought the last sailfish that was foul hooked for a long time and then we took extra care to release the sailfish. MUSTAD circle hooks help to ensure a quick and easy release of these fish preserving the fishery. Simply touching the leader when you get a sail close to the boat is a legal IGFA catch. MY adrenaline is flowing! That 2nd sail was beautiful especially when it turned and came toward the boat and you could see if zip thru the water! Woo Hoo! Great jumps too! Thanks for the info on the kite rig, I was wondering how that worked.

I have fished east and west coast of Florida and the closest the gulfstream comes to shore is inlet beach in northwest Florida you can catch sailfish from shore.
