Small Boat Fishing in Winter for Rays. Anchoring up near Falmouth for Thornback Rays. Using fresh mackerel I catch some great fish. A great trip and I Jeff: When I used go boat fishing I would loved going after rays. I was constantly told by the rest of the lads my tackle was going overboard as I would use a brass swivel to light wire trace to brass clip and steel hook. The days when it was blanking for everyone I would always catch rays and I put it down to the small electric current between brass and steel caused by the sea water (told it by some salty sea dog. Not knowing if its true but I heard rays etc sense small electric current in wounded fish like sharks and it worked nearly every time.

Hi john I'm about to purchase my first boat rod and been seeing good reviews on the ugly stik gx2 I was just wondering if its worth purchasing and if so which lb class I should get as they do 12 to 20 a 20 to 30 or a 30 to 50lb, ill be targeting conger tope ling the usual big stuff or is there a better rod for around the 100 quid mark i should purchase many thanks.

Hi John great video as always! Would like to ask on a tip or advice for fishing for rays from shore. rigs, line strength and bait ect, I know of two marks where a fair few rays have been landed but no luck for me yet. thanks in advance -

Hi John. Regarding the boat swinging around with wind over tide. Would a Drogue ( Drift Chute ) put off the stern help to stabilise it a little more?
