Hey mate, great video as always, I watch them as they get put up but revisit older ones occasionally! I'm looking to get my first eating plaice for the plate this year from a gradual sloping, sandy beach. Would something like this set up (flashy, beaded hook) work on a dropper pulley rig or something to give me the best chance? Also would large garden worms instead of ragworms work well as a bait for them with a sand ell? Any advice greatly appreciated -

Here in North Carolina we have a fish called the Sommer Flounder that looks alot like the fish you caught. They don't have the orange spots. They like to ambush bait fish in the shallows. They cover themselves with sand for camoflage. We use lights and gig poles to catch them. We pole our boats in the shallows looking for their glowing eyes.

You-ll have to do a vid on how to fillet gurnard as they-re delicious and I made a right mess of mine last time. Another great vid. Weird how plaice follow the boat along and either fight like stink or come in like without even knowing that they-re hooked. Keep em coming!

A night session with a massive dead bait anchored on the bottom near a rubby-dubby anchor, clicker on would be so exciting. I dream of owning a boat and having a life like yours, but I'm way off so, living vicariously through you and your videos is a real joy. Thank you.

Plaice? looks identical to what I have caught in the harbors and estuaries on the Pacific coast of British Columbia/Canada. only we call it a Sole. We have another kind similar but wider with heavier scales called a Flounder. However I bet those Plaice tasted good.

The first seafish I ever caught was a small plaice on a handline from Blackpool North Pier jetty 60 + years ago! I shared it with my grandma.
Gurnard is a lovely eating fish, my grandad used to buy them for me from Warrington Market. Thank you for the memories!

Excellent video as usual.
Couple of questions sir.
Would you use circle hooks for plaice?
If so. How would you bait the hooks?
In another video you mentioned you had great success once you figured out how to use circles properly.

Tell your wife not to be worried about her appearance as she makes your great video even more enjoying. I wish my wife would go fishing with me, but she wants to knit. haha. Thanks for your knowledge of fish and wildlife.
