Brook Trout Off The Beaten Path - Spring 2020 - Canada Fishing Guide

As we always do, my son Brendan and I headed north in late May of 2020 to paddle and fish for wild brook trout. This was an important trip for a number of reasons as more than ever I needed to get away with Brendan to clear my head and at least attempt to recharge my batteries. My dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January of 2020 and went downhill very quickly, finally passing away on May 19. That along with the Covid 19 situation we've all been dealing with made this an important and even necessary trip for me personally. This one's for you dad, I know you were with us every step of the way!

I truely am sorry for your loss, tho I would not attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming, I cannot help but tender to you the consolation of a stranger, who can only offer a prayr to the earth mother and all father to watch over your father. I know you will meet again in the happy hunting ground to part no more.

I am just blown away with the quality of trout you guys are catching. I have a question, you guys add a small piece of worm on your weaver grabbers? Or nothing at all? And what size are you using? 1/4oz or 3/8? Sorry for all these questions.
Thanks in advance for the reply!

Seemed like you both needed this spring trip mentally, emotionally and physically. Glad it was good. The woods looked like they have taken a beating over the years, way different than your spring Algonquin trips, nice time though. Thanks for sharing, take care.

Happy to see you managed to get a June trip in. Fishing looked spectacular and gorgeous terrain. Nice to have the place to yourself. My condolences Mike. My spring BT trip was cancelled so I will have to go another year before I catch my first brook trout.

Great video, Mike. So sorry to hear about your Dad. Hey, I am also plagued by leg cramps. What's been working well for me is a calcium + magnesium + zinc supplement. I take 2 a day and have 99 percent less cramps.

Mike, I sure do appreciate you sharing these trips with your son. Fantastic memories for life. And even more meaningful this year with all the personal and national things going on. Carry on!

Sorry to hear about your father. No better way to enjoy, reflect and remember then where you are.
What size weavers would be good for brookies
