I hope to God that somehow these salmon are not destroyed by farming, like every other run in Atlantic Canada. Look at the situation in Nova Scotia. Utterly dire. And Ireland--completely collapsed. And Scotland, and Norway. Wherever the farming is done, they do it in the same water that the wild fish swim right by and catch the diseases.
In the 70s the farming was being experimented with in Lobster Bay in Argyle NS, both trout and salmon and it fortunately failed. They tried again, latest was early 2000s west of Abbot's Harbor in Pubnico. Fortunately that failed, too. But now they farm in Digby.
The salmon that used to run the Tusket are long gone, due to the hydo they put on there after the war. But the rest of the province is in a severely endangered condition.
