Next season starts Saturday for us in wisconsin. Early catch and release opens up! Im heading down to my local. fly shop this afternoon to pick up some items in preperation. It's gonna be 28 and mostly sunny, hoping to see some some winter midge activity.
Oh yeah, my fly stuff is all over the place. I wish I had organizational skills. The best I can hope for is to put it back in somewhat the same area on a regular basis. Case in point, I just bought a new car, and while cleaning out my old one I found my ross gunnison feel I didn't even realize I lost it.

Good advice, I put the label made with electrician's tape and cd permanent marker, even on the small side of the fly box, so when I look for them in the desk or sometimes in my hard bag I don't have to remove them all, like a book! And also having a lot of flytying material, I made a sample catalog of all the materials, on a big spring album, so before making a fly I have everything under my eye. My friends liked it. -

1 big tip for long term storage: silica dessicant bags. Especially anyone who gets near saltwater. Silica dessicant is thrown in everything we buy, especially electronics. Take them and put them in any long-term storage bin to keep your stuff from rushing or developing an odor. It's free and keeps you from throwing away a box full of $$$$

So you are OCD. That is a good thing so am I, but it is not a disease, I am adaptable. I actually just ordered a labeler myself because my hand writing leaves a lot to be desired. I will be definitely be using some of your ideas. Now I have the bug to go fishing here in Colorado. How about a video on how you organize you vest too?

Hello Colen. I just watch the video you done about labels. I was just looking on the internet for one. What I-m asking is what kind you have and the price of it. Hope to hear back from you. Love the videos you all are doing. Keep up the good work. Happy New Year. Best Regards from West Virginia, Ken

Labeling reels - Instead of a reel for each line, I go with one reel, multiple spools. It's cheaper. That said, label the spool. Is there a good way to do that? Also, look for lines that are pre-printed with the line type (get out your -cheaters-, the print is tiny.

Excellent video Colin. It-s disappointing when you get to your destination and leave the right fly box or line at home. I use a labeler as well and it lets me be more efficient packing for a trip as well as on the water.

I don-t fold these paper bags just any old way. lol. I have exactly 2 reels and rods and maybe enough flies for they all fit in one box. I tie in one corner of my room a space about 3ft x 10 ft. No room for all this. ;)

Oh man I thought I was anal about organizing. I use a Sharpie pen to mark my boxes. I now have a late Christmas present to get me. Labeler. All kidding aside it is real easy to get unorganized fly fishing.
