Coming from salt water fishing if they go under the boat don-t have the line rub the boat especially with fly line it can damage the fly line and maybe even cause you to lose fish so it-s fine to drop the tip in the water

Quality fishing. Little disappointing to see the use of a gag for unhooking some pike, an unnecessary piece of kit from the 70s.
