Welcome to our first installment of #AskTheBuzz! - #GUESTS - Al Lindner and James Lindner #QUESTIONS 0: 55 - How do you fish a lake when the water just turned over? 3: 47 - Where do the bait and walleyes typically go when the weeds die in the fall? 7: 23 - If you could only use one colour of tube jig for smallmouth bass in clear natural Canadian lakes, what would it be? 9: 06 - I've heard to always match the color of your trailer to your jig/spinnerbait. Have you had any success with mixing it up? 14: 38 - I recently saw a picture of James Lindner holding a beautiful salmon he caught on the Humptulips River in Washington State. Could you please tell me what rod setup he was using? If you have a question of your own, email it to: media

We used to love fishing at night along the dam rip-rap in the Fall at Lake Hefner in Oklahoma City, OK(yup, former state record-holding walleye lake right in the middle of the state capitol city. We would fish #11 and #13 Rapala Minnows and Husky Jerks, usually in orange or chartreuse backs(we didn't have so many color options back then in the mid-1990s as today, on 8-10# medium action spinning gear. We would tie a dip net and a flashlight around our waists and make our way along the rocks casting parallel to the shoreline, -navigating- by the moonlight(and surprisingly no sprained ankles. In the summer we would drag bottom bouncers with spinner rigs & crawler harnesses in the daytime across wind-blown points. Good times!

The weed growth and death cycle is key for walleye. As soon as the weeds start dying walleyes leave them and head for Rocky bottom. The biggest walleye hangout right at the edge of boulders and muddy bottom. They sit there and ambush prey. For a shore fisherman that means Bridges are great places. Just imagine where the rip rap ends and muddy bottom begins. It's usually no more than 15 feet out from shore. Most people reel right past them or cast over them

I guess what I would say is when it comes to Walleye post turn over they're both shallow and deep. And Al did touch on this around the 7: 00 minute mark, but most videos/articles I see suggest anglers should only be targeting Walleye shallow post turn. This could be true on Mille Lacs, but 15 years now we fish Rainy early October and deep is by far the most productive bite for Walleye.

Great show thanks guys My idea for a great show is that you go out with some poor schmo like me who always gets out-fished by his younger brother and correct the mistakes I make we can use my boat and I'll even buy the bait and lunch. My mistakes could give you enough for a half dozen good shows.
