I hope you dont have to walk back home across that crack widening behind you? .That happened to me last year as I was in the shanty. I peeked out and saw the crack opening fast. I got there with my clam. The crack was about 25 inches wide and opening as I was looking at it. I put my clam across the crack stepped in and rolled across it onto the other side of the crack. I was in about 6 feet of water but being 57 years old that can be tramatic for an older person to go through. Next time If there is no less than 6 inches of ice and no open water out further I will not be risking it. Thank God I made it ok. Be safe everyone.

Jay, these are great video's to get people pumped about the upcoming season! Ice is still too thin for my liking here in North Central Alberta but soon. very soon we will be out there and after the first mess of Perch for the season! No joke I had guys yelling at me for putting back 16 + crappie yesterday, after the 5th one they started crowding me hard. those are NOT eaters people! Thankfully it is the complete opposite with Walleye around here, where 22+ will get you yelled at for keeping at least until you hit wall hanger size: )

great vid as always Jay! To each their own but I like to use my Livescopes without the gridlines as I find it less distracting and easier to read my screen. Never the less its awesome technology and well worth the huge pricetag IMO. Keep up the great content - always waiting for your next vid.

Can you explain, in your best opinion, a guideline on catch and release in certain depths of water or point me to a video with a good explanation. I mainly fish below 18 feet of water and Im not understanding 100% on the best ethical action for catch and release on deeper water fish.

What a weird fall. We havent much for cold weather in NW Ontario. Still seeing plus temperatures in late Novemeber. Have not seen -20 yet, when we do the ice can build 1-2 in 24 hours easy! 3 to 8 weekend to weekend.
