You have insurance under the ACA? That insurance should cover brain surgery. It certainly is not elective. Who is your insurance company? I hope you come out of this surgery great. This is exactly why we should have universal health care in this country. This type of illness can be like buying a second home. Universal health care would benefit both the patient and the provider.
