LFG brother you need what is called an underquilt it is windproof and insulated for the next time you go hammock camping it is a must have even for weather around 60 or 65 at night it helps give a thermal break and helps you maintain your body heat at night! You should spend a few bucks on it you don't need down a synthetic is good enough. You might also get a tarp for Hammock camping to set up overhead and down to the ground around your hammock to help divert wind! You will have a much better hammock experience!

As many have already said, you need an underquilt with a hammock. Even in the summer time I use a light weight underquilt. You will probably want to go with a topquilt also instead of a sleeping bag. Insulation, especially down, compresses and looses its warmth when you lay on it. I would recommend checking out Shugemery here on YouTube. He has some amazing beginner hammocking videos. Once you get it right, you will never want to go back to a tent again.

I love hammock camping. You cant use a sleeping bag though or you will freeze every time. When you lay on the sleeping bag, you flatten all of the insulation. Youve got to get yourself an under quilt. Its like a sleeping bag that hangs underneath your hammock. Major game changer.

Keep your clothes you plan on wearing the next day in your sleeping bag and your boots up by you. That way they aren't unbearable when you put them on. Didn't read all the comments to see if someone already suggested! Trick you learn sleeping in the cold when deployed.

yeah, like everyone else said already im sure, you need an extra layer under you in a hammock. even though the ground can suck heat from your body a cold wind can do it just the same if not faster. thats the only reason ive never used a hammock.

My sleeping bag for camping up here in canada is -20. I went winter camping where we had to dig our own shelters out of the snow. Witch was 3 feet deep woot woot. It's cool seeing how other people camp. Up here it's mostly canoe tripping

One tip I have for hammock camping is get an underquilt. I camped in a hammock without one for a while and once i got one I never really got cold. It acts as like an insulator and wind block which helps keep heat in hammock/sleeping bag.

Quick tip. Im pretty sure I saw them in there, but when I was in the Marines and we slept in the field, we always kept our uniform and fresh socks in our sleeping bag over night. It sucks putting on frozen clothing in the morning. lol.

You cant sleep on either side or your belly. A properly prepared ground insulation, bag top cover, makes for warm, snuggly, sleeping. I have awakened with 2 feet of snow covering me. Like a bug in a rug.

Next time bring a sleeping pad with you for more insulation works wonders! I was out in 15-20 Degree and was nice a toasty with a sleeping pad sleeping bag and my tarp over my hammock
