WHITETAIL DEER SKINNING Processing the Rawhide

WHITETAIL DEER SKINNING Processing the Rawhide

After deer hunting for whitetail, I'm skinning the deer, processing the meat at home, and then using the skin to create rawhide by removing the excess meat fat and fur. This makes excellent backing for bows, and can also be used for bow handles, sheaths and quivers. TBcinema: Never hunted a day in my life, but watching the primitive style techniques and processes is just captivating. It's truly amazing how we angry apes on a big wet rock figured out all these amazing tools and tricks to survive. Love learning from all your outdoor videos.

LFG, use ash from the fireplace when you soak your hide to release the hair. The lye in the ash will release the hair in about 5 days and it will also keep the bugs out of your solution in warmer weather.

Liked it! Always like learning about how to do things that I've never done before! Plus like seeing someone use almost every part of the animal! Next show the sinew process!

I used to flesh hides like that and switched to using a power washer. Knocks all of the flesh fat and meat off and even the blood. Great video! Like the process you show!
