On my most recent Dive for shark bait, I witnessed a Giant Sea Cow (Manatee) spook a massive stingray out of the way. It was a good dive, full of life and I managed 6 Stingrays for shark bait.

Wow Vik, As usual! GREAT video. My dad and I would catch sand sharks in the Delaware bay. We would keep the larger ones and cross cut them through the cartilage and filet the skin and cartilage out. Pan fry in browned butter. Poor man's lobster. We also kept larger skate 2-4 foot wing span and again cut down to the cartilage along the main body frame and filet out along the cartilage to the wing tips without cutting through the tips. then with the skin attached to the skate flip it outward and filet the skin off. Great white meat. Again fry it in browned butter. Poor man's scallops. Put dinner on the table when the game fish weren't biting.

I haven't cooked stingrays, but I have cooked skate before and they're pretty much the same thing. It was pretty good on both occasions. Cooked up light and soft like white fish. And the meat will slide right off the cartilage when done right. I used a recipe for skate buer au'noir. I've also had cooked stingray in Japan and it was pretty delicious. I think it was fried or something. Anyways, you should totally do a stingray catch and cook if you haven't already.

I ate about a 30 lb stingray one time. Cut the wings off, and get a sharp knife and skin them. Then cut it into 6 strips and either fry it or you can boil it for a few minutes, then put olive oil in a pan and simmer it until is golden brown. It tastes exactly like scallops with the consistency of shark meat. Some restaurants use stingray meat instead of scallops.

i remember over 10 years ago wen my dad first brought a stingray home, we braised it in a pressure cooker and we also steamed it and cooked it in a sauce that had a bit of spicy and soy sauce. but nowadays i release all of the rays i catch

Stingray is my favorite, you cut the wings off the body and pull off the skin and pan fry with a little salt and pepper. Each wing will be separated by a pice of cartilage in the middle, the meat comes right off after you cook it

Hey Vic
Love the idea of a sting ray catch and cook
I tried it before and it is 5 star meat. taste like scallop and I seasoned mine with the basics and bacon wrapped it
But I thought it was great tasting meat

definitely would like to see a sting ray catch & cook. they have a huge piece of cartilage that runs in the middle of each wing, but if you cut along the cartilage you'll get a nice filet.
