It looks fishy to me that the only fish you caught was at canal. At the end of canal. Little bit further canal was blocked by net. You can tell by big floats on surface. Looks like the fish was released and confined there for an easy catch. The fish had nowhere to go. And you knew that fish was there and you casted exactly there. May be Im wrong. But the way the events happened and all circumstances point me to that conclusion. Thats my guess on what I saw. Im not saying that I have any proof.

ichthyotoxin in gar eggs is a no no for human consumption. It's highly toxic to your digestive track. Think food poisoning is bad? It's far more violent then that. The LD50 would be an inedible amount so death is not gonna happen (unless you had some type of extreme reaction to it) But you will be puking your brains out and SICK.

Awesome video. watching some old ones on a boring night. Have seen hundreds of your vids, with absolutely flawless editing, etc. Laughed so hard at the end when you called it the Gar chicken two times. That makes this vid even more epic! Ancient Florida Chicken Gar forever! As I always say, you guys are the best!

I've never seen Brook more demanding on grabbing the fish than that first gar you caught. LOL Jump in grab it, what are you waiting for? DO IT! LOL
Also did Brook have the covid? I know she said she couldn't smell and you said she was sick for weeks. Just wondering.

american indians used their outer covering as quivers for their arrows. Cooked whole then meat removed leaving the outer covering. I have only ate one. I cut it open using a garden trowel and a stout knife. The flesh was someshat stringy but tasty.

Fishing for Gar is almost like Hunting. I think they are great fun to catch. Ive seen people Take the heads, prop the mouth open and let the ants clean it out. leaves an interesint Head Coffee Table Mount of just the bone.

I suggest a small hatchet or heavy cleaver. Cut down each side to the backbone and take the back strap the rest is not worth fooling with. That's the way it's done in South Louisiana.

I caught a gar once here in the midwest in the Ohio. But it didn't look like this gnarly guy, similar but quite different. The eyes and skin were different.

Kentucky Afield has a video of cleaning and cooking a gar. They put a nail through its head to keep it in place and used tin snips for going down the back.
