Rob, I have been following you now for almost 2 years. I have never left a comment before today. This video hit home for me. I too am a BIG NHRA fan. My father owned a machine shop, rebuilding engines. That's what I grew up doing. Long story short, my dad used to race dirt track back in the mid to late 60's. He raced with a few men, one being Herb Parks. Fast forward to the 80's, Herb was crew chief for the Great Don Garlits. Who by the way has a great museum in Ocala. Herb made a stop in our home town in between races one year. I got to meet him and actually sit in the cockpit of the RAT under glass top fuel dragster. So this video, seeing how excited you where to experience what you loved as a kid was great. Reminded me of my younger years also. Hope you and Sarah enjoy Vegas and the 4 way racing. Thank you for what you do with your videos. And please keep them coming.

Thanks for sharing that part of your life with us it was amazing. I also was a huge fan of Darrell Gwynn and when he crashed was the last time I too watched NHRA I also was a huge fan of nascar and Dale Sr and like the NHRA I stopped watching the sport when he crashed. I love that you were able to meet your childhood hero and get Sarah involved in the sport with you and I hope there will be more to this story in the days to come
HAVE A SAFE FLIGHT AND ENJOY VEGAS!
ALSO if you see Darrel again tell him there is a Georgia boy who wishes him well and to thank him for the wonderful childhood memories and that he is STILL MY HERO.

Other then being outdoors and all thats goes with it, I'm a massive gear head. Though I live In canada, my uncle in Florida took my dad and I too that exact drag strip too top fuel NHRA nationals. As a gear head, top fuel was always the pinnacle of combustion engine engineering with engines pushing 10, 000 horsepower. The shear forces at play are astounding. I remember when the first funny cars came up to the line, my uncle said block your ears now as they took off down the quarter mile. It was like bomb exploded infront of us. Absolutely amazing.

This is absolutely an amazing back story to you, Robert! My mom used to take me to drag races and derby races. My mom was an Auto mechanic for 26 years and she used to drag race and I remember her baby, Plymouth Sport Fury III with a 383 (can't remember if it's a '63, '64 or '65 lolx. So going to races and watching my mom fix cars, is in my blood and this was such a great video on your past!

I saw your comment on smokes video about the ranch he has, i figured thats how this video started. My list was Big Daddy, Bob Glidden, Kenny Bernstein, and John Force, and Dave schultz on the bike.
My first tim to the Gator nats was 1985,
Good thing you took your wife to gators first, because if two is good, four is awesome.
Four wide is crazy, have a nice day
