i caught a chinook that way once. tossed out a sliding bobber setup right when we anchored up, was gonna test the depth and set my bobberstop knot, bobber hit the water, went down, set the hook and fish on! maybe a 26 inch chinook, not huge but who catches salmon on a bare hook?

I did that once. Was a 3 or 4 pound Bass slammed my bluegill hook when I was a kid. I still have the reel it happened on as a souvenir.
