In this episode of Field Trips: West Coast, I've made my way north to Malibu, CA to meet up with Dylan Marks, who I met online a few years ago after a hammerhead bit his foot. We'll be heading offshore in North Ventura to target white sea bass, halibut, thresher sharks and whatever else we can get into. Dylan also convinces me to eat raw bonito just minutes after we caught it. Watch until the end for a preview at episode 5!

Quite the spread. I cracked up, but I have imbibed cobra blood in Thailand (it was mixed in Thai moonshine. I question the food choice for sure. returning to the past, on that same day, I had eel (long story) and some giant Asian frogs (that I would not touch. We were on an Air Force crew, with some SF, during an allied exercise (1982, This story is multi-layered; my old combat photo days.
You always exhibit a great attitude, nicely done as always Robert.

Another sick vid! Dude if you think WSB look like speckled trout wait until you catch a short fin corvina. Identical to your Florida trout but with out the spots we call them vampires. Next year come to SD in spring and they will be on the chew!

How is your gps/fishfinder powered. Do you have a 12v deep cycle battery, or does it run off like D batteries? I only have experience with larger boats, all run off of a deep cycle, but I didnt think youd have room for a big battery like that.

Enjoying your coastal quest, thanks for sharing. Dylan said it is October so you've been sitting on this footage for almost a year? What were all those small floats marking? Too bad you guys didn't get on a thresher or see any whites.

BonitO is an Atlantic fish, BonitA are here in the Pacific. Different fish, but both taste good! I've always thought about fishing that little island, glad you got out there! Especially with Dylan Shark Bait Marks! :-)

That guy's rolling with the 17. Love that boat. Looks like he's got everything he needs plenty of room. Heck he could probably put a grill on that thing and cook some fish.

that thing that took your bait was probably a sea lion. they learn to bite only the rear part, so literally the entire baitfish except for the hook.
