Fished a 3 day bass tournament last March on St. Johns river. had 19lbs day 1 17lbs day 2 14lb day 3 said all that to say this, bought a new rod and reel before I went there 800 outfit so I really wanted to use it because it was such a good working outfit I was throwing a senko Texas rigged with a 1/4 ounce pegged weight first day I started loosing fish just like Scott was here, only I was fishing 2-4 ft if water, fishing grass/wood I would pitch my lure and most times they would just pick up the bait and start running sideways I would reel down and set the hook and get 2 3 cranks on them and they would just come unbuttoned, I am talking about seeing the fish all from 3 8lbs, I was so frustrated! I started setting the hook harder. and would break the line, for 2 1/2 days I lost 20 plus fish per day, totally lost the tournament by what was happening to me, would have had 25 plus pounds per day easily with just the fish I lost. finally got feed up with it and threw the 800 outfit in the St. Johns! . picked up one of my usual rigs (lews reel and duckett rod and fished the last 3 hrs and had 22 bites and never missed the first hook set! And what I really don t understand is the new rod was a worm rod naked right on the rod? Will never understand it, by the way lost first place by less than 1 pound

I've had the same thing happen to me before Scott with a Carolina rig I would bet my house my truck and my bass boat that those fish were biting your weight like you mentioned earlier in the video and that's why you were missing them in quotations when you were set in the hook I haven't tried this yet but I picked up a good tip from Randy block it he uses a jig head when the fish are biting his weight on a Carolina rig just a regular flipping jig football jig with a hook in it and if they'll bite that you got a chance at landing them. You know all this already but I just wanted to make a comment LOL good luck at St Lawrence

You don't need to explain yourself, to anyone, except yourself. You only advance if you truly seek improvement, and no one can motivate you more than yourself. Sorry, I'm not someone with authority, nor experience in counseling - but I've been at the bottom of the ladder, facing a very hard time, in the literal sense. So, the worst day fishing is, in my case, better than most of my best days not fishing. I need to get back to it, and soon. I'm going to watch you all the days I have left, and I hope there is a lot of them. Thanks Scott. You do have next to you the best catch you have ever made. glad for you and your wife.

Roland Martin is a legend easy top 5 all-time angler who was a record-setter, 9 AOY a record, and I think he finished second one year in the classic and maybe a dead fish cost him the win, either way, if he had won the classic that year that would not have set a record, but 9 AOY who else has done that? Roland was also a fishing inventor and few fishermen do that. The Roland Martin legacy 9 Bass AOY. And one cool dude.

I know you're not pleased with your finish, but man it sure was cool of you to take a few mins to chat with me and my son after the weigh in day one. Hillary and Jacob were so super friendly and genuine down to earth good people just like their father. The whole family is a real joy to watch and my family will always be pulling for y'all no matter what. Bless you brother.

We watch through the highs and lows. Love the video content and getting to follow along. We always see the results of the tournament but still can't wait to see how it unfolded. That is how good the videos are, knowing how the book ends but reading it anyway. Keep them videos coming and keep on fishing strong!

Scott, please hang in there, you can do this! Your daddy, you, and Hillary are all excellent at fishing and you are awesome people as well! We have seen what you are capable of doing. So pull it together, and settle down more to focus on the main prize. You can do this

Every tournament angler has been in that same situation you were in. Once it gets in your head is hard to stop it. That's why this sport is so humbling cause when everything works its awesome but when it sucks there almost nothing u can do to stop it

You're a class act regardless of the rod breaking, fish missing, language breakdowns, or foot stomping. Hey, you've made a living with something you're passionate about, and you've passed the passion down like your dad did. Awesomeness!
