If you want to understand and appreciate small mouth bass. On the Saint Lawrence river system (or on the lake, where I think that Taku caught his limits in the tournament. One has to look. To other species of fish even. Here in Ireland and Scotland. Where they have Atlantic salmon runs for example. You find different shapes of Atlantic salmon. In different rivers. The anglers say. That's a typical Tweed salmon. Or that's a Spey salmon. Or whatever (and all of the Atlantic salmon end up in the same saltwater feeding grounds in Greenland and places. Where they grow. And even runs of salmon. At different times of year (on the same river. Early season runs, late season runs and mid-season. They can look totally different too. All of these cold water, clear water fish though. Regardless of what species it is. They all share that same thing in common. They 'get away'. And they make a complete idiot out of you. That's what they do. That's their speciality. Many a good angler. Has learned it. The hard way.

I fished a ton as a kid back in east Texas in the mid 70 s. Living within 20 mins of Sam Rayburn and less than an hour from Toledo Bend, with hundreds of ponds and small lakes within walking/biking distance I was blessed. After I went off to college and then the military I left fishing behind for 40 years. Watching you and your family (Dad and kids) I caught the bug again and have gone all-in. I retired recently and bought a boat and gear and have begun exploring the Potomac as I live in northern Virginia now. River fishing has been a learning experience for me.
I just want to say thank you and your family for re-igniting my fire to fish that your father kindled back in my childhood. I ll be forever grateful for you and your family. Your videos are personable, informative and make all of us watching you feel like family ourselves.

Congratulations on qualifying for your first year in the Elite field. Thats a great accomplishment in itself! Now I will pull the favor card. I have followed your career for years. My wife recently (5/8/21) passed unexpectedly and my Daughter and I have been fishing more than we used to. Question I have is would you be willing to sell one of your rod and reel setups so I could give it to my Daughter? It sounds childish, i know, but I really think this would put a big smile on her face and maybe get her mind in a better place. Thanks for your consideration. I fished with you one day just a week or two before you went pro. I knew then you were gonna do very well and I told you so. Don't over think it. What you have and always have is the master key to success. Passion. You knew we would win that tournament, and so we did, pitchin' that gambler paddle tail (sorry Charlie. Been watching you for awhile. My Wife and I spoke to you at Seminole a few years back. I watch your Dad, too. You both remind me of the dogs I used to show and judge. You're grinders, always in it until the end, no giving up. When you get into the Classic, use that opportunity to it's fullest. always go for the win. You've got this, Man!

It seemed like to me anyway the last few tournaments you didn t seem like yourself, I ve watched all your tournament videos and have never seen you that discouraged and honestly that mad. You will bounce back next year, your one of the best fisherman out that just relax and go have fun that s what got you where you are today

If BASS cares for the health of the fish so much why don't they allow nets, it's much more dangerous to boat flip a big fish and bounce him off the boat. There's no reason for no net. It's been proven it takes no more skill to boat flip or grab opposed to netting. I think it's a dumb rule that needs to change. stay healthy
