I've been building custom computers since 92. I can say this is a huge issue if they don't recall. I have fixed so many PC's that people have built or upgraded themselves. People just won't know and this could definitely burn down someone's house. Just say a parent knows their kid loves tear computers down and building them. They find this case or pc at a yard sale way down the road. Takes it home gives it to the kid and he takes it completely apart then builds something out of it. In turn screws the pcie riser back in then plugs it computer in when he is done. Say its running good leaves it running at night to do windows updates. Then catches fire and kills them or seriously injures them. Very very bad situation.

You spent way too much time simulating stuff with the motherboard, talking about that one path to ground. Patrick even said at 29:15 that if the motherboard is not connected to the case the system would work just fine. This could lead less experienced people down the wrong path . There are more paths to ground than this one. Most people screw their PSU into the case. That's a path to ground right there. The IO-plate of a graphics card is probably also connected to ground. The list goes on.
The takeaway is: ALWAYS act as if the case were connected to ground. Doesn't matter where the connection goes through. Case = GND.

It's been almost 2 months now and I still haven't received my repair kit. NZXT have solidified themselves as a garbage tier company with their poor handling of this. They have proved they care more about their bottom dollar than the safety of their customers, let alone basic customer service to ship out just 2 nylon screws to everyone. If they don't have the manpower to ship these nylon screws out in a timely fashion then they should have outsourced the task. I will 100% never order a single thing from them ever again, and I will actively discourage friends and family to do the same.

This is like complaining about long screw damage on an iPhone.
The defect only occurs by installer error.
If you re building a pc and ramming metal screws that are too big for the pcb hole then you re the worst part of the problem, doesn t matter if you re supplied with the screw or not got anything else use some common multi layer pcb sense if it s too big it s wrong.
What I dont agree with tho is nzxt shouldn t be sending out any units that have been used with metal screws and show clear signs of pcb damage.

The thing that immediately struck me on seeing this footage was this: it's a huge red flag to see a piece of retail hardware like this that has pcb screwholes with no protective lining in them. Just bare pcb. Of course it's going to get eaten up.
Look at literally every motherboard, at gpus, and whatever other computer part. Those pcbs have protective linings on the holes to preserve them. A simple adherence to this thing thats so standard across pc hardware would've prevented this entirely.

NZXT is legit the worst tech company, I regret buying an AIO from them since CAM was freezing my pc that I bought a month ago (Took me some time to find that it was this program that had issues...) The worst part is that it's a problem that A LOT of people were talking about 6-7 YEARS AGO! I just uninstalled it and I'm controlling the x73 pump speed with cmd. I went with nzxt because the arctic one was out of stock... This is quite sad and I'll for sure never buy from them again.

Great stuff. Love how you guys drill and expose these crappy companies. I don't understand - when you head up a company, wouldn't you have MORE of a reason to try to be honest, since you have your assets/time invested into it? I don't know why they think it would be a good idea to try to get out ahead of you guys when you stated in your email that you were going to publish content regarding it. I have the h510 but I definitely won't be considering them for a case next time!

Thank you for a fighting for a recall, Steve. I have no dog in this fight since I don t have an H1 but I have bought an S340 in the past so buying NZXT again isn t that unlikely. If this happened to me I d be livid if their solution to a potentially lethal issue was a vinyl screw.

Steve, I happened to read your title explanation above, and I noticed that you wrote about the US safety division getting involved with the issue.. Perhaps you should forward this, and any other videos and letters to said agency... Maybe that will cause something actionable to happen with this issue, besides the bandage being applied here... I don't usually trust any government agency to move on things quickly, but you never know. G

OK - but the revision ships with nylon screws. So it will not burn? I don't understand the point GN is making. They showed the issue with the old screws. OK - so the design is bad - it should have that coating around it. But with the plastic screws it is no longer a fire hazard? So then just say you dont like the H1 pcb riser cable design. Don't claim it will burn down the pc/house/people etc...
