Unpopular opinion , but considering how much new big triple A games , and big remasters/remakes are coming with Raytracing next year , and that there s a lot that already have Raytracing right now.
For example the Witcher 3 update coming tomorrow , and 4 types of ray tracing being added to the game being the main selling feature .
And the fact that with DlSS 3 (wich has been confirmed with this update too)
You can just jump over cpu or GPU bottlenecking.
And get nearly double the fps.
With this things considered , the fact that in actual rasterization performance , the 7900xtx and the 4080 are not only very close , but even the 4080 wining over the 7900xtx in many titles .
Makes the 7900xtx a bad card.
I would be patient and wait a couple months.
At the same price , the 4080 is definitely a better value than the 7900XTX
Very equivalent raster performance, much better ray tracing , better upscaling technology , lower power consumption, dlss3 , better for work related flows etc.
But at 1200 it is NOT a better deal.
I would wait 2 months.
If Nvidia shows that they rather rott on the shells , than take the price down ,and prices stay the same then I would go AMD.
If AMD gets worried about low sales first and takes the 7900XTX 100 down and the 7900xt 200 down , I would go AMD
But if Nvidia realizes, that the 4080 won t sell at 1200
An makes it 999
It s definitely Nvidia

Fully agree. Ngreedia is closely followed by AMD, who don't price their buggy and underperforming N3 after what these should cost, did cost in the past nor to gain market share. Instead AMD price the N3x after Ngredia's rip-off prices on the 40xx and do the Nvidias fleece the customer dance, by releasing a 7900XT that is only there to get consumers to buy the XTX. Even if a cheap to produce N32 comes out, we can expect AMgreedia to price it as high as possible. Just like Nvidia has done with the 4070 ti, which is really a 4060 performancewise. PC gamers paying the over-price in a recession for both team red and team green. Mr Jensen and Mrs Sus are not that different.
A lot of Nvidia repeat customers are up in arms over the exorbitant prices on the 40 series, and AMD are not understanding that they can turn them into red customers, if they use the low BOM to price the N3x aggressively and still make a pretty penny. Liza is not after market share, but margins, and as Nvidia has set the barrier high, the costumers has few alternatives than to pay N3x or 40x exorbitant prices. The shareholders will be trilled.
Don't buy this gen of GPUs.
Battleimage, where are you and will it be any better or will Intel fall into the same hole as Ngredia and AMgredia? With their statement on 250W being the sweet spot for many gamers, I have become concerned about Battleimage.

I could very well be coping here, but this is new architecture and I'm going to imagine there will be a lot of improvements in terms of drivers and game compatibility to sort out. For example, it appears there is a bug with Solidworks right now.
Considering Nvidia has not changed their architecture, I don't see much more room they will be able to squeeze out of their platform. Where it would appear, on the surface, there is a lot of room for improvement on AMD's end and some rough edges that need ironing out.
As for the high res/8k testing... VR and will likely have a huge role in this and AR/future immersive simulations. Considering they focused on this, maybe running the tests with the scaling features enabled might yield more favorable results for AMD. I personally would like to see AMD vs. NVIDIA on these very high end resolutions. I also am hearing that using AMD Zen 4 chips and enabling SAM is gaining some performance putting it ahead of the 4090 on a couple benchmarks when benched against a similar platform running Intel with last gen PCIE.

6950xt From AMD Website = 784 and has been that way for well over 6 months now = Ebay Listings at Above 800 ! = Newegg = 800 ! Microcenter = 794 to 984 ! Don t know what you mean By 650 MARK = Is This YOUR OPINION of What they Should be ? and Yes = your business location isn t that far from me = in fact an hours drive to your office = Soooo , well Maybe 2 hours depending on Traffic , soo = same area = same price ! Now You MMAY have Meant the 6750xt as it IS Around 650 Everywhere = But that ISN T What you Said ! Your Statement Was 6950xt at 650 = WRONG ! In FACT you mention BOTH the 6900xt AND The 6950xt and NOWHERE around TIME MARK = From 2:12 ish Through 2:35 ish = Take a look For Yourself !
Reason for my comment = i Have been debating a Complete Upgrade to a Minimal Update To Current system and i have been VERY Vigilant on Keeping up with Pricing as I Have Seen The Prices Creep Back UP Lately since Nvidia is SOOO Expensive = 7 hours ago from upload time = NOTHING HAS CHANGED AT ALL !!!
the GREED STILL FALLS ON Nvidia = NOT AMD !

For reviewers claiming to have 9 years of experience you missed two important aspects:
- the amplitude of the Xs are important too. While NVIDIA supplies an amplitude of only 4090 for its one X, AMD cards manage to go as high as 7900 for up to 5 Xs.
- from the perspective of symmetry, AMDs RX 7900 XT takes the lead with perfectly balanced positioning of the Xs around the amplitude. The cards with odd numbers of Xs all suffer from asymmetric positioning. While NVIDIAs RTX 4090 is slanted to the left on par with XFXs' flagship with respect to the number of Xs, the AMD RX 7900 XTX is the only card that manages to position more Xs to the right of the amplitude. The gap between the XFX RX 7900 XTX (5 Xs) and AMD RX 7900 XTX certainly leaves room to fit in another card with symmetric positioning (XRX 7900 XTX upcoming?).
Personally, I am not sure why both card producers decided to not put Xs in the amplitude when using an odd number of Xs. Maybe there are technical reasons to favor an asymmetric positioning?

Some more insight into why the 7900XT is a misleading name for this SKU. Traditionally the two ATI/AMD top end products were only separated by clock speeds when the price difference was around 10%. Memory bus width and shader/rop/tmu count always remained the same. 9700 and 9700 Pro, 9800 and 9800 Pro, X800XT and X800XT PE, X1900XT and X1900XTX, X1950XT and X1950XTX, HD2900 PRO vs HD2900 XT, HD3850 and HD3870, HD4870 and HD4890.
There only started to be a reduction in core config ratio after the 5000 series, along with a somewhat larger percentage difference in price, with the HD5850 and HD5870, HD6950 and HD6970, HD7950 vs HD7970, R9 290/390 and 290X/390X, RX 470-570/480-580, Vega 56/64, 5700/5700XT etc. but the memory bus and capacity remained pretty much the same across the two SKUs. Even the 6800XT and 6900XT stuck to this formula. Now though, the 7900XT makes no sense because both the core and the memory configuration is cut down while only offering a 10% reduction in price. Makes no sense whatsoever.

theres two things id like to see discussed. one is a quick discussion on performance targets vs relative performace, this is alot more useful for ipgrade decisions. e.g. show a graph that highlights all cards that reach over 60 and 100 fps in their 1% lows. relative performance is only relevant when u know u want to buy. it should become quickly apparent that most newer cards are good for at the very least 1440p.
the other thing is amds driver has been fullbricking systems with 240hz screens for months now and its a major argument against amd (i bought a 6900 over msrp and i got free grey screen crashes). any search for amd grey screen crash or 240hz crash or multimonitor crash will bring up relevant threads with many users posting.
i also think its not worth to go for rt yet unless u want to go 4090 which has very high associated costs with the price.

It's definitely a shame that most reviewers are comparing the 7900 XTX to the 6950 XT in price/performance - it should instead be compared to its direct counterpart, the 699 6900 XT. You do that, and the performance increase per dollar becomes an absolut joke.
AMD is trying to massively increaser prices (as they did with Zen1 -> Zen 2 -> Zen 3 -> Zen 4). The customers must resist and vote with their most powerful weaponry: their wallet.

PEOPLE!!!! STOP!!!!! I SAID STOP!!!
Stop buying GPUs at 1000 or so. No matter what performance they offer. If you keep buying expensive GPUs well guess what. Companies will keep selling them at these outrageous price.
A top GPU cost 600 10 years before. Even considering inflation todays prices are out of any context.
STOP JUST STOP IT. You are to blame companies are just companies

The significant gap between the 7900XT and XTX makes me a bit afraid for the 7800XT.
If it is again 15% slower than the 7900XT, then the price would need to drop below the 650 USD mark for it to make any sense.
Otherwise we will actually end up with a flagship product that has the best price/performance ratio of the entire line-up... we live in a strange world these days.

AMD pulled the same stunt as Nvidia.. Forget about the value option, just buy our top model!!!
I won't be buying any of these overpriced videocards.. And I hope most other people won't as well, to send Nvidia and AMD the message they cannot get away with pricing like this.. The RTX 4080 not selling is a positive sign, I hope the rest will follow..

The RX 7900 XT is 100 or even 150 to expensive. Ideal price would be 749 or the most 799 to make a difference that matters. The small difference is strange to begin with. Because all will buy the RX 7900 XTX if the price is 100 difference. You get 4gb of vram more, and about 15% more performance. So the deal is not sweet. I hope AMD fixes it fast.

Hey Gamers Nexus, have you considered including power consumption at different use cases (especially idle is interesting for me) like Igor's Lab does - maybe I just missed that? Having multiple sources for that would be a huge benefit for me (also for future gpus). The 7900XT and 7900XTX seem to be especially bad at idling.

6900xXT and 6950XT for 650 bucks?! Wow, I wanna live in your country. I'd bite your hand off if you offered me EITHER of those cards at that price. Best I'm seeing here in Europe is 873 for an MSI Gaming X Trio 6950XT, and loads of various 6900XT's and 6950XT's anywhere from 900 to 1200
