Open ai is getting too big for their goals. Sam Altman thinks he needs $100 billion for agi. Why on earth would he spend any amount of money on building new fabs
Microsoft is also in the chip design business. Even they know not to make their own chips. This is a cut throat industry which will need at least another $100 billion in r&d alone to match the latest node coming out of TSMC from scratch.
This is not their competitive advantage. The more I hear about openai’s plan the less I take them seriously. I thought it was ridiculous that they wanted to design their own chips when they could partner with Microsoft instead. This is on a whole other level.

Dear GamersNexus team,
If you test AFMF, can you please not only test the faster paced, often first person games
Because I feel its just not what AFMF, or really any type of frame generation really is good for. Where it really seems to shine is strategy games. Especially ones with the almost standard, terrible CPU bottlenecks. Games like Paradox its many series (EU4/HOI4, City Skylines etc) or something like ANNO 1800. This also seems to be getting overlooked, including by AMD its marketing team...

I bought an Arc A770 because RTX 4070s were sold out around Christmas. Same with 7800 XTs. Probably not gonna upgrade for a while because I'm happy with my A770, it runs all of the games I play at a respectable framerate, and that's all I want from my GPU. Hopefully Intel gets their frame-generation technology up soon, because DLSS3 was the main reason I looked at the 4070, and I want Intel to succeed as a third player in the GPU market.

efficiency going to be real hard to get a useful view, have a 7900xtx and running the same game the power use can move form 180 to 360 watts with a shockingly small change in settings, the card seems to be really efficient right up to the point it turns into a power hungry monster. no idea how you go about showing the full picture on something like that. because it can be so many different things.

Really hope Intel keeps going with arc. Very excited for their next gen. If they can maintain anything near this rate of progress I think they’ll have something very competitive at mid-high end in a generation or two. Hopefully they focus on raw rasterization performance before attempting to compete with Nvidia’s silly little feature set. Really rooting for Intel and more competition here.

i agree with you there with intel arc, i love tech and yeah i thought id splurge on an intel arc a750 over a year ago... it has its hiccups.. but if you tinker around you can get games to run.. i mean like motorsport manager.. the game refused to boot on intel arc.. i entered a command to force the game to run.. but as a card its pretty decent.. especially for the popular titles

I know it's not a perfect idea review-wise, but it would be interesting to also see FPS/W GPU benchmarks with undervolting, as well as the performance loss from a full power curve compared to an UV curve. Electric energy is getting expensive, undervolting is free, it cannot damage the GPU, and it can cut down the power consumption by a lot, so it's a good thing to consider.

Hi Mr.Steve and GN Team.
Can I demand a result from GPU power efficiency on 3D/2D render (Blender, C4D, Vray and so on) and VDO Encode/Decode render(Premiere, Davinci and so on) too
that will help a lot of artist (me included) from chosen the right GPU on the budget for work sir.
Thank you for your reading and answer sir.
(and sorry for broken English)

It's worth mentioning that every single government on earth wants their own EUV chip fabs. OpenAI saying they want to open a fab is like me saying I want to eat Jeff Bezos's still beating heart on live television. Sure, it would be great for everyone involved except jeff, but it's just not gonna happen for a ton of obvious reasons.

OpenAI seeking $10B to try to fab its own top-end AI chips is actually comical. Even established manufacturers building a fab for $10B is aggressive -- OpenAI trying to do it for the first time and also develop a process that's competitive with TSMC or even Intel I have a $10B bridge to sell anyone who invests in that.

SO that's where the good Intel devs went, the graphics division. I don't have an Arc card, nor I have a desktop to put one in, but man I would want to experience the progress in real time. I don't play new games so it will be easy to spot the problems, and I'm used to play on a potato anyway. Hope the keep this up!

I just recently bought an A770. I had no real expectations but damn, it was a letdown. I did not really care about FPS in games.
I tend to play some old DX9 ones, namely Battle for Middle earth, it crashed after 10-20 minutes. I could accept it, however, I had multiple system crashes / restarts from the VGA...

I really didn't look too much for power efficiency till we moved to UK, and here you have to recharge a card for electricity, pay as you go style, well.. had a 3090 13600k and, oh boy, going at the store every 2-3 days, with a 4060 12400, maybe once per week, so yeah, for me it matter, thanks!

As reviewers become more knowledgeable and thorough in their testing and review, isn't it likely, as you mentioned, manufacturers are improving components, in turn, increasing production costs and increasing point of sale costs Can you also discuss not just what is best, but also, what is acceptable

GamersNexus, Kudos Steve and Team for the hard work on Efficiency testing, power in my area ( from Hydro) is cheaper over the national average, yet I find myself trying to reduce my footprint on the grid as much as possible , at least conceptually being concerned with the global temp 2.5C goal.

Always remember when companies talk about inflation - it's not real. It's just increase in their profit margins. All of the energy price increases went to energy company shareholders. Inflation is just a nice buzzword to say instead of We got really greedy and wanted to take more money from you.

As per usual, that AMD driver update seems to be a very stutter-heavy mess. Not exactly a surprise, given their track record with bad drivers, though. They really need a larger driver team. Now that AMD is doing better financially, just use some of that money and expand driver team.

What is the reason that you don’t include a geometric mean score across all games or tasks like other reviewers It would be really helpful to get a rough overall performance ranking. Also inflation adjusted price to performance would be nice for people looking to upgrade from older GPUs.

Im really happy about that you added more tests to your GPU testing suite, could you maybe consider adding blender in the future Afaik the gpus by the different manufacturers perform very differently, with nvidia being the go to but finding good benchmarks of non Nvidia cards is hard.
