To all those who have done the complete set of actions needed but it's not doing the final installation run your cmd as administrator and put:ipconfig , copy your ip addresss, and then type the command:shutdown -i then try option hardware installation or option operating systems reconfiguration. I don't know if it's a guaranteed trick because I changed my mind about going windows 10 but when I tried to install and would restart for it to take place it didn't do it so those might work for ya .

Thank you very much for the tips on getting windows 10 to download. the only problem I had was trying to use the link you have for the Microsoft Fix It Tool. The program you have the link to did not work. I had to googel what you had on your computer screen to get my download info fixed. Once I did that everything else worked great. Thank you again for the tips. I was going crazy trying to figure out why I couldn't download Windows 10 or make a reservation to download it.

Not working on my laptop. still just updates 2 files and nothing else. Delete SWdist in windows c:drive>open cmd in admin and type the command but not enter it>go to win update and click chk for updates>back to cmd and press enter, wait a bit and end up with msg saying Windows is up to date and 2 files show up in the swdist download folder each time. Worked on my desktop but not on my laptop.

Worked after trying this out for five times. Each time it had some critical updates and would restart. Finally it came to a point of no more updates and then voila it just worked. Keep trying this works !!

OMG I deleted everything in the downloads like you said and I can't access the fix it it come back with error........seriously, I'm sick........this is on my windows 7 netbook

You could've just went to the insider website and download it from there before you got the notification. That's what I did. xD But still a good video anyways
