Sling TV vs. DIRECTV NOW What's the Best Cable Killer I was a At&T customer and had Direct TV Now. When it works its nice however 98% of my Time it did not work. You can not call and talk to a customer service rep. You can only IM them of which they are scripted to give you a run around and no refund. I was promised a refund after contacting them 15 days in a row and I still never got a refund even after I was promised and screen shot the process. I contacted them for the last time when I was put threw the same ruiteen provide my screen shot only to be told the rep made no note on my account for a refund and screen shot ment nothing I had them 4 months and it was the biggest waste of time and money.
Pluto TV is Free and I never had an issue with it once. Im tempted to try sling TV. But after nightmare direct TV now. I hessitate. I had 4 devices that tried to use it on WiFi and data and direct TV now is a big fail Im surprised they didnt get out of business yet\r\n

Ive had both sling tv and direct tv and. Started with direct tv go then sent to sling then came back to direct tv go. Sling has its own commercials that are always being replayed everg other commercial break. Direct tv plays the commercials from the tv so its not the ssme annoying commercial. Also sling tv app on samsung smart tv is very buggy. Only got it to work via chromecast. Direct tv go samsung smart tv app is very good and not buggy. Direct tv go is honestly more reliable then sling. But a little more expensive. I dont care for DVR but direct tv go does have DVR beta which works better than sling which starts the recording 2 mins before the show starts and ends it 2 mins early.

I like Sling TV but the last time I had it(a couple weeks ago), I had issues casting DVR’d shows from my iPhone to my Chromecast. Kept trying to watch my recordings of The Magicians and other shows and it kept giving me an error message. Played it on demand instead & suddenly that problem goes away. Have you heard of anyone encountering this issue It’s a deal breaker for me, sadly.
Completely unrelated but holy crap, you’re the guy from the legendarium podcast! I watched a newer video which showed up in my feed and thought huh, that guy sounds familiar and then open up this one where you’re wearing a shirt from the podcast! Jeez, you guys must be busy people.

I can tell you during the beta test of DirecTV now DVR, you currently only have 20 hours that you can record on and sometimes it's extremely glitchy you'll have audio that is offset from the video or it will just skip and that could either be the broadcast or the DVR itself I'm not sure. But it does allow you to record just about everything that I have tried to record so far including full series old broadcasts new series only and the like. It's pretty good

Ever wonder why ads are allowed to run on television
stations in the greater New York area for cable operations knowing dam well
they are not available to everyone, since the five crime cable operators have divided
the city up among themselves, no out siders allowed, cross boundaries are strictly
forbidden, or a visit from a diamond pinky ringed mobster may come a calling to
enforce them dare rules

If you would have asked me 6 months ago I would have agreed. But for the past 4 months the Sling DVR hasn't worked and I've called them over 10 times and all they say is their engineers are working on and it. If it takes their engineers 4 months and they still ca t fix it, it's time to find new engineers.
After football season, we will be switching to DirecTV Now. At least the DVR that's in Beta works.

Ok sling TV has a shit load of bugs I had it for about a year had it go off on me about twice a month and could watch TV for a couple of days. I tried calling and got the run around. But as far as direct TV now it messes up every now and then but only for a few minutes. I currently have DirecTV now. And it's been pretty good, granted it's only been about 4 months.

On sling TV. I had the service for 4 months and I love it. I just upgraded to the 40 dollar service because it's a great value. I have my internet service through spectrum so I'm at 70 bucks there for their fastest service plus 40 for sling. So that's 110 a month. Beata my old 200 bill. I may drop back down to the 25 dollar service after football season

Great overview, just two quick questions:
-: Does either service or a competitor allow you to rewind LIVE tv in case l miss something or want to start over
- Does any provider allow you to record entire shows, games, etc. that go over the regularly scheduled time without having to record the next show, movie after
Thank you!

PlayStation Vue is the best overall. It costs a bit more but still much cheaper than cable. Biggest strength is 5 devices can play at once. Great for families. Has all of the features of the other choices. Had it for a year and loving it

I am interested in cutting the cable and had pretty much decided to go with sling. However I am a big Fox Business fan and wonder if I'll be able to access it with sling. I'll be using an Amazon Fire TV stick generation 2.

Sling Orange and Blue packages are both 24.99 now, both packages together are $40. The good thing about Sling versus Direct TV is that you can change your plan at any time. I've never had a problem with Sling.

Add this to your comment or research. Direct tv is very very very irresponsible. They lie. They promise n promise n never do what it said. N they want to charge you for just calling them by phone $99..
reply

You did mention hidden fees ,taxes, extortion fees , I will charge them 3 months later after you sign up. What are the hidden fees ( I don't want the customer to known ) and how much

I love all the complaints about direct tv buffering and sling tv buffering. YOURE STREAMING LIVE TV OVER YOUR WIFI. If this is an issue for you get cable
reply

Both suck balls I Cancelled both after trying for a while. Netflicks and a Roku is all you need perhaps hulu or others for 8 bucks not 37.00 or more.
reply

DirecTV now is AT&T. Enough said, they lose. DirecTV with the cost and nightmare customer service is why you cut the cord in the first place.
reply

DIRECTV is a beta version and still has a lot of bugs. It's always buffering and shut down by itself even though I have a strong wifi connection.
reply

not understanding about sling DVR. can you record show an watch it later. wanting to get rid of my DirecTV just not sure what to go to
reply

On sling tv the pay its 25 Dollars mont to mont. So Directv. My pay its 120 A Dollars mont to mont. So its big diference
reply

Not to mention direct tv streaming sucks with often freezes and a lot of buffering. Did not have this problem with Sling
reply

I prefer Sling because of the A la Carte but Sling makes you use a credit card to pay your bill, which I don't have
reply

#1st World Problems: I don't know if I will be able to skip through the commercials from one program to the next.
reply

Sling w the W!! I just canceled DTV now. So many issues with streaming and I have none of these issues with sling.
reply

... DirecTv Now, has way more variety in networks offered than Sling... I prefer DTVN hands down over Sling...
reply

Just got Sling and constant skips. Black out and looping. Not very happy if this continues. Im cancelling
