This just shows the utter insanity, unfairness and corporate-coddling bias, of the current American (sic.) -copyright- regime.
When someone can have their ability to publish videos on YouTube, arbitrarily terminated due to nonsense, dishonest -copyright complaints- of the type at issue here (particularly when the subject of the video is simply technical information about a particular computer operating system)... it's easy to see how the basic concept of -copyright- has been perverted, way past any constructive role in society.
Various civil liberties organizations (e.g. EFF, etc.) have repeatedly warned society of what would happen, if corporations were allowed to weaponize the concept of -copyright-, in this manner. Well... here we are. What a (bad) joke YouTube's -copyright- enforcement system is. I WOULD say, -lobby your Congressperson to change it-... but they're all corrupted by the campaign contributions of predatory corporations like Apple (and Google).

This rather reminds me of a situation a few years ago, when a friend of mine wrote a book which he made available free online (a set of problems and solutions for students taking a particular exam to get into university). His work was taken without his knowledge, published and sold on amazon by an unknown person. The perpetrator claimed that because it was free to download that my friend had relinquished all rights over his work. This was clearly wrong (after very many months and emails, my friend -eventually- got amazon to remove the book for sale, and he self-published the material himself (while still allowing free downloads of the pdf.)
Whether you like Apple or not (I don't have a strong opinion) to take someone else's intellectual property (bought for or not) and use it against the terms on which it has been provided seems unethical to me (and I would hope it were illegal in most jurisdictions).

Why not do a Clover Bootloader multibooting Linux and Windows? I know GRUB2 does this already, but Clover can too, and is a little prettier. Honestly, it's awful that Apple has to hire a gunslinger to fight their battles for them, and Youtube does deserve some shame in this. Their Copyright Strike system is renowned for false hits and abuse by copyright trolls and pranksters. Besides, while my inclination is that tutorials covering the violation of a EULA does not constitute a copyright violation, I think the sole reason for strikes on these tutorials is Youtube's unwillingness to be involved in a legal action to settle the matter. It's the Chilling Effect in action. So back to the first point, a generalized Clover tutorial would be nice.

macOS is free for installation on Macintosh computers.
It's not that there are no costs involved - macOS probably costs as much to develop and maintain as any major commercial operating system - it's just included with the sale of a macOS computer.
Apple has all the IP rights to macOS, and can distribute it (or not) to anyone they like.
Would you tell a major audience how to pirate a copy of Windows?
And no ... Linus is just as much in violation of the ToS of macOS.
I think you could proably install Darwin, but anything above that is proprietary IP.

Linus has a guy who helps run his company that makes sure everything he does is above legal reproach. Most people who cover stuff don't have the advantage of having a highly skilled staff to help them cover all the bases, however. Comparing Linus doing something to most other YouTubers is a bit unfair. We, as viewers, rarely see all the build-up to his videos. Hell, we rarely realize how much work smaller YouTubers put in to their videos. Kind of sad as, I'd imagine, Chris here put a good bit of time and effort in to his Hackintosh video.

Paying any amount for a (Macintosh / Apple product is a waist of money and is promoting what has been touted as slave wages in China . Let alone the massive E-waste that Apple products produce with their Corporate attitude and directions from the highest level of Apple Corp. to their retailers to say to customers , -is unfix able and data is unrecoverable - , (Which has been proven to be a blatant lie in most cases) you are screwed , -you'll need to > Buy a new Apple product-.

Here's a crazy thing, I use youtube merely as a way to upload (backup) my home videos. I went to Japan in 2001 and went to Disneyland. I used my video camera and eventually uploaded it. I have had 2 copyright notices. What makes it ludicrous is an important factor. I have made the video private, no one can see it. It's crazy. I would love to be able to respond to youtube to outline my video.

The only props I give apple is protecting peoples privacy from governments. Otherwise, never liked apple as a company, had an apple ii as a kid. Ive had a few iphones from work but thats the most apple I'll ever have in my life. Im sure MacOs is better than what it used to be but Im a builder. If I cant build my system from scratch and put whatever software I want on it, I dont need it.

Yeah, Hackintosh is pretty gray area. I mean, first of all you should definitely try to get the ISO image from Apple. The problem is you have to have a Mac to do this.
The other thing is this, Apple cannot say anything to you if you get the installation from them. When you get the OS from them, they can't tell you what to do with it.

You can actually download macOS directly from Apple using another OS. There are tools for that - on Windows -Cvad's Boot Disk Utility- for example. I personally always show that method and also recommend buying a macOS license (Lion and Mountain Lion are still available for purchase). Haven't got a copyright strike so far.
