Hello all,
I am still confused about the linux gaming as a whole. I switched from Windows 10 to Pop OS 20.
Have a hp laptop with core i7 8750H with gtx 1060 maxq and 32 gb ram.
I tried 2 games, Battlefield 3 and 4 and there is a constant stutter, performance shows high FPS, but there are constant stutters.
All the information i was able to find is regarding shader compilation compiler which is causing this, all the info about that say, after a few minutes of play, it will be chashed and the stutter will resolve, yet after playing 4 hours of BF4 for example, stutters are constantly present.
Is there a way to resolve this, do i need something additional for the shader compilation compiler stutter problem?
Thank you in advance.

Thanks for the vid, Chris Titus.
I've got a question, though, and I'd like you to help me with that, if you don't mind: I've just recently switched to Linux from Windows. I gotta say it's been harsh, but the sense of control over your computer certainly pays off. The thing, though, is that I've been unable to run Starcraft Remastered with my Nvidia 1650 graphic card: for some reason it's not recognised and the graphics have low quality. It's the game I play the most, but for some reason, it's not working properly. All the things you recommend doing and tweaking in our Linux videos, I've done them all. Dota 2 runs smoothly, but not SC Remastered using Lutris.
Pardon for my terrible English and have a very good day.

I dont know why but after following the instructions from the video and doing the reboot, it wasn't letting me use my graphics card, so I tried changing the drivers and that didn't work neither. Everything on the games was looking red. Luckily I did a backup a few minutes before doing this and after restoring it everything was working fine again

Was this Ubuntu based mint? Last video of yours I was following was Debian based and you mentioned not to use PPA-s. The videos before that mentioned Manjaro or PopOS were better places to start? Just trying to figure out a best starting setup to learn Linux and games. (& props for keeping all the great content coming!)

I remember using Linux Mint back in 2010 and how we could barely get steam running with Wine. Now we just install steam through the app center and use proton to play Windows games like it's nothing. Brought a tear to my eye to realize what I had thought was possible on the distro one day, is now possible. Amazing.

Tried Liquorix kernel on Manjaro. It couldn't even boot. I just switched back to the standard kernel. Not really worth the time tinkering around with to solve, the liquorix kernel does not gain enough performance to warrant hours of searching what was getting messed up.

Hello, thank you for all your awesome videos! I have been following your Linux Mint series and downloaded LMDE 4 to follow along, this video was for Linux Mint and not LMDE 4 am I correct? If so, is there a way to accomplish the Nvidia driver update on LMDE 4?
