I agree with 99% of this podcast but DO NOT agree with enabling automatic updates. I can give multiple examples on updates that have broken(even bricked) apps/devices or 'maliciously' designed 'features' were added. Big companies included. Better have a strong firewall and safe online habits then research updates a week or so after release and if security is extremely important, just do not use the device/app for a week after an update.

never assume your vpn is not logging data, never trust anyone
while you are using anything, always assume they are doing everything they can to get you
you can still use them as tools in between but only trust the protocol, if something is not being protected by the protocol, dont trust any entity/people to protect it

If you use a camera app that doesn't store location data would that help when uploading photos to any platform? If there is no EXIF data beyond the bare minimum for image orientation etc. I would think that would help protect from platforms accessing your location based on pictures.

-Don't reuse the same password and use a password manager. -
Make sure you make this clear. I can see how somebody who is new to these topics could completely misunderstand what you meant.
Better to word it: -Don't reuse the same password. Use a password manager. -

Boston, Mass. Police use a Wireless Cell Tower device that tricks cell phone signals into thinking it is an actual cell tower, which they eavesdrop and collect all incoming, outgoing calls and texts. The PD used Illegal $$ to buy the hdwr. and sftwr.

Weird inconsequential nitpicky thing, but CVs aren-t cover letters, they-re basically academic resumes that list any notable academic achievements. So if you-re applying for something where that-s relevant, a CV is your way to go.

Guys ask about the last 2 digits of the sha256 hashing algo that were added undocumented and last-minute to the standard. I don't trust words, I even question actions but I never doubt patterns

Will we ever have complete security? I feel like no matter what we do it's always going to be cracked. I mean how many disgruntled ex employees pass out the keys before bouncing out?

Just a minute in and I'm finding this a bit conflicting. Vpns are logging your data folks, sponsored by proton VPN, also we're in their affiliate program. Wow.
