The Tesla Style Deck in a 8 year old Car - Chris Titus Tech This is a custom android deck in an old car. Easy, cheap, and pretty darn cool Meow: it reminded me when my papa decided to change the deck to something similar to that, but i don't know the exact model of the deck he installed on his car, but previously, the car only had a tape-only deck, with the 7-segment led display, but with him being the automotive expert, he rigged it up with a subwoofer, a tv, a touchscreen deck, and sort of surround-sound system with amplifier, and im glad he was able to use that touchscreen for over two years (if i calculated that right)

No matter what, you'll still be cheap, Chris. Hahaha (just kidding, but I think, you have said it at some point LOL). Anyway, it's a great project!!!! I just wonder if there will be a slightly more expensive alternative in terms of the device that at the end of the day provides a better experience and enjoyment. But as I said, it is an excellent project, congratulations and thanks for sharing

He Chris looks good, great man. I was wondering how someone like you is checking out software, on it being save to use. Do you only use opensource? or do you check software on it being safe to use yourself etc. I'm asking because especially these days telemetry and other stuff are so common in programs. cheers

So, why do you need all those bells and whistles? When you are driving, you are supposed to be paying attention to the road. Watch Werner Herzog's 30-minute documentary -From One Second to the Next-. It should be required viewing for all high school students and anyone applying for a driver's license.

Hey Chris. See if you still have the 16 gig limit on usb's on that unit. Could you hook up an externall usb hard drive? I would love to be able to have my music collection on a hard drive in the car, even if it would have to be in mp3 instead of FLAC.

Chris, interesting and entertaining choice for a summer time video topic. I would be terrified to rip up my car's dash board like that. Was that a skill you learned on YouTube? Anyways thanks for sharing you always interesting tech videos.

Thank you for the video. I do have a couple of questions... Which model is that Pumpkin radio? And how bright do you think it is?
I have an Android based radio in my car now, but in the sun the screen is virtually illegible...

Why not get the Comma Two with OpenPilot (FOSS) and give your car's driving assistance a Tesla like self-driving tech? Compatible with most common car makes with driving assistance, except junk makes like Dodge.

I don't get why these things are so expensive... we need some kind of device that acts as an audio interface and sensor hub, so that we can connect a 300 usd ipad to it via usb. Separation of concerns!
