Hi, thank you for the video but I have an -scenario- not fixed :S
I have a 4tb seagate hd, it worked perfectly but suddenly stop working, the computer can't recognize the device, I have all drivers updated, the cable is ok (tested with other device) the 4tb device just keep -humming- but nothing more, can't use it or recognize it.
Any solution in this scenario?

Out of curiosity, I'm having this same problem but formatting the drive erases the data on it, is there a way to assign a drive letter to a drive under these circumstances without erasing the data it contains?
Edit: I've tried to use the disk manager, the option the rename the drive is greyed out, and command prompt cannot see the drive.

My WD Passport 1TB was working fine for years, suddenly yesterday when I connect it, computer can't detect it. Nothing showing up in the drive, No bad noise from HD, usual noise.
Disk Management also can't detect it.
What's wrong with it. How can I make the computer detect it again.

I'm not sure about the 1st option you provide. Approx. 2:5ish in the video, at the New Simple Volume Wizard part where is asking to Format with NTFS/DEFAULT/NEW VOLUME... Either perform a quick format (blah blah blah). Well I lose any data if I select this?

My external drive was coming up unallocated and I went through the process of making a simple volume. I can now access it but it shows no data on the drive. Am I out of luck or is there a way to find that data?
